In 2013 we were the 2nd best 3pt shooting team in the league and other than Ray Allen no one else on the squad (other than Mike Miller who barely played) was a prolific shooter.

Our big 3 though manged to draw a lot of attention that opened guys up which allowed players like Battier to shoot 46% from 3

Battier was a .384 career 3pt shooter. That's better than Bosh shoots now, and he's pretty much our best shooter. Also, Chalmers hadn't forgotten how to shoot yet. We had more plus shooters that had to be respected.

Besides, there's no replicating the panic that Lebron and a younger Wade caused.

Yeah, and his last two seasons with the Heat Chalmers was below .300. Dragic shot .400 in 13/14. It's like RBW said: it's got a lot to do with the system, player confidence etc.

Dragic's game improves dramatically when he's handed the offense and turned loose.

No. The Heat want to shoot 3's

The problem is, our starting SG and SF suck at it. Wade and Deng out there are killing us with the 3. Deng is a 33% 3pt shooter.

We need to get rid of Deng for a cheaper 3&D guy.

Deng is no longer a sf. And as a pf, he was decent from the three... and it will be rough retaining him. After miami max Hassan, they're left with around 20 mil for Wade, Deng and JJ...

Deng shot 34% last season.

Not good enough.

That's fine for a PF, and not bad for anyone.

lol, too bad we can't play trash defenses all the time

Dragic is living off that one good year...nobody gets that type of pass

Dragic will never be "turned loose" on a team going anywhere

I think Amin Elhassan put in best in regards to the Heat. No, they don't have a squad full of great three point shooters, but they do have a bunch of guys who are capable of shooting the three well, which allows them to shoot great as a collective, if the offense is run a certain way. We can have enough three point shooting to open things up without a sharp shooting expert.

Essentially, Deng, JJ, J-Rich, Green, Dragic, Bosh, TJ, and probably Winslow very soon, can all shoot the three at an average to above average rate. So, if were running a free flowing offense that contains good ball movement and a fast pace, the team can create enough good three point attempts that allow pretty good three point shooters to take great shots that might give us enough spacing and extra points from three point shooting to open everything else up. Obviously, some of those guys might not be back next year, but the point is the same nonetheless.

Just like rebounding, three point shooting can be a group effort, without having one or two extremely proficient three ball shooters.

You make very good points, but I disagree because of one big reason :

3pt sharp shooters can occasionally have HUGE games and drain 8 three pointers in one game, or light up the 4th quarter with three straight 3pters..... and win a game. Do you not remember Mike Miller doing this for us, or Battier, or JJ sometimes? Or when Danny Green for the Spurs was going off on us. These guys can give you a win singlehandedly sometimes.
