OT: WWE to bring back the brand split (Smackdown to air LIVE on Tuesdays)

I know there are quite a few of posters who watch WWE here, so let's discuss.
I've recently started to watch WWE again and it's okay right now.
The talent pool is currently pretty good as they've acquired quite a lot of well known inidie wrestlers, but they are unfortunely underutilized.
So a split is much needed for the talent to have more opportunities to shine.

Predictions on who ends up on which roster? :D
Personally I was more of a Smackdown fan back when I used to watch the show often, so I'd like Smackdown to become great again.

A SmackDown shakeup is about to completely reshape all of WWE. Beginning July 19, the second longest-running weekly episodic program in television history, SmackDown, will move from Thursday to Tuesday nights and air LIVE each and every week — for the first time ever — at 8/7 C on USA Network, the exclusive cable home to WWE’s marquee properties.

This bold move will have major ramifications for all of WWE and exemplify the New Era, as both Raw and SmackDown will each feature their own unique rosters and rivalries following an imminent Superstar draft.

"WWE's flagship programs will both leverage the incredible depth of our talent roster, distinct storylines and the unpredictable nature of live TV," WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon said. “This move will undoubtedly build more excitement and deepen engagement with our fans around th.e world.”

With so many explosive competitors emerging from WWE NXT, and top Superstars like John Cena and Seth Rollins returning from injury, WWE’s star-powered roster has never been stronger. Its historic division and the monumental revelation of SmackDown’s shift to a live format each week reflect the excitement and unpredictability of WWE’s New Era.

What awaits SmackDown on its new night, starting this July? Which live shows will claim your favorite Superstars? What will this all mean for the future of sports-entertainment? Stay tuned as WWE prepares to get shaken up like never before.

I like it...alot of guys get buried. It builds stories and keeps guys like Rusev and Ziggler prominent in bigger scopes. They have become fodder all of a sudden.

With so many new NXT guys coming I hope they grow the brand this way and maybe set a tone for this new Era that is PG 13 ...done with the PG era

I can't wait!! Especially since they'll be airing Smackdown live now. Its a great thing to do right now since they have so much talent on the roster and all the nxt superstars and indie stars will hopefully fill other spots. As far as whos going where im not too sure but hopefully they make it where the WWE champ and the Womens champ can be on both shows like when the first did the roster split.

Itd be cool if the kept the ic title on raw and the us title on smackdown and also bring in another set of tag titles, thatd be smart.

Or have the tag champs be able to be on both shows.

I just want Smackdown to be relevant again. And this is a great first step.

Not a lot of main eventers on the roster right now. If they commit to push Bray Wyatt, AJ Styles, bring up Samoa Joe, then they'll get somewhere. I don't know, the split now compared to back then isn't going to be well-received. When the brand split happened in 2002, you get new main eventers emerging from the previous ones. On Raw, it was Triple H, Austin, Kane, Hogan, and on Smackdown, it was Taker, Lesnar, Angle.

Good because I stopped watching it. They need to make smackdown more interesting . I usually only tune into Raw.

A brand split has been long overdue for WWE. They have enough talent to maximize characters better with 2 shows. The fact that Smackdown will now be live as well is an extra bonus. I hope this leads to Raw going back to 2 hours also. 3 hours of programming is way too long on top of having another 2 on Tuesdays now.

My boyfriend stopped watching wrestling 8 years ago. A serious question though, how old are the people that watch WWF/WWE on this board? .. just want to know.

right off the bat, one of the reasons this is going to work isnt even because of the brand split.

the fact thatsmackdown being live is really really interesting and is the main reason it might work out. it was really annoying that for years you can just read the results online and wouldnt even bother watching the show. with it being live, it makes you want to tune in and check it out. its up to wwe creative to make it interesting however.

The fact that some of their pushes for new main eventers have come slowly (or didn't care) makes older viewers tune out quickly. If Cesaro, Bray Wyatt, and even Sheamus (cause he has tons of charisma) would keep their main event pushes and let the guys that have "been there, done that" like Cena (whose practically taking the year off) and Orton (same) make way to let the new main eventers get their rightful push, then wrestling would be a bit more entertaining.

I know I sound like I'm rambling here, but IDGAF.

Can they please make Raw and Smackdown 2 hour shows too?

No one wants 3 hours of these

here is my thought on how they should do this...

Treat Raw and Smack down as conferences (AFC/NFC)

The whole year have stories that are dedicated on those weekly programs with the champion battling the wrestlers from the other program at 3 big events...Summerslam, Royal Rumble, and Wrestlemania.

After Wrestlemania they should do annual draft where some guys are up for picking. Wrestlemania is the event where matches that are unique and not tied to any specific storyline can happen too.

They should make it entertainment but create a league type format

Didn't they do that in 2002, 2003, 2006?

Yes for the most part. It just wasn't executed very well then. What they shouldn't do is split ppv's like they did previously.

They should relaunch it as "WCW Smackdown".

Yeah and I am against them creating newer titles. There should be one WWE Heavyweight title.

Then they shouldn't split the champions. They should have the right to go to both shows.
