It was a competitive league this season. Leicester ran away with it but other than that you couldn't ever be sure who'd win on a weekly basis.

I think some people think it was mediocre because Leicester won it. :noway:

Just to highlight Leicester "running" away with it.
with that point total would finish 4th in spain, 3rd in italy and holland and if im right wouldnt win another league in the rest of europe.
To me that highlights the strength of the P.L. and more of it to come.

With regards to our "british" core.
I understand they have "potential", but i am not against selling some of them and that includes wilshere and ramsey. I mean i also blame the "core" for the failures.

You can't compare EPL with other league: EPL money are more balanced between all the team and then every game is difficulty even for a top team.

I don't see what the other league totals have to do with it really.

Leicester did run away with it.

10pts ahead of Arsenal that's nearly 15% of Arsenal's total.

10pts less and Leicester would still have been champions, 10 less for Arsenal and they finish 7th a point ahead of Liverpool and not in Europe.

I wanted to highlight the competitiveness of the league. I wanted to highligh 81pts is already considered "high". but when you compare it to other leagues it is not. highlighting the competitiveness of the league

45 milion for Xhaka with the current Arsenal's roster? Wenger is out of his mind....
Until he is the coach, Arsenal will not win anything that really matter.

we need a cm so he bought a cm... the squad improves with the signing lol

i've never seen people go so crazy about a fee arsenal have paid before lol. Its not something i'm use to lol. This is literally the 3rd time the club have ever spent anything more than 18M pounds on a player.

Arsenal needs most of all a top tier striker (Higuain, Lewandosky, Benzema, Lukaku, Aubameyang, Cavani) then to improve the defense and lastly a CM.
If Wenger spent 45 milion on a CM you guys can't buy the striker and the defender who Arsenal badly need to win the EPL (or the CL).

The built up play of Arsenal had been absolute shite the minute Santi Carzola got injured and only got somewhat better with Elneny starting over Ramsey.

Xhaka's actually something Arsenal really needs, given that you can play either a Carzola/Ramsey/Wilshere or Coquelin next to him, depending on what kind of opponent you're facing, and also gives you another guy who can set up the offense from deep.

Also, teams are allowed to sign more than one player per offseason(Wenger stated three new signings will be needed) and you've got €90M extra coming in from the TV deal alone.

BTW: Eberl confirmed that the Xhaka transfer will be the second most expensive one in Bundesliga history, at least so far.
Right now, Roberto Firmino's move to Liverpool for €41M was at #2 all time.

so yeah outside of couple sheik transfers who spent unreasonable amounts to establish themselves in football world, vast majority of the 40mil+ transfers have been for players that have proven themselves to be elite players at the time of purchase and xhaka is not on that level. really benteke transfer is the only non-sheik one that looked as bad as xhaka purchase.

I repeat myself: if Arsenal want to win the league needs a top tier striker (at least 60 milion, probably more) and to improve the defense (at least 40 milion for a CB and a FB). Can Arsenal afford another 100-120 milion in a single window? I don't thik but we will see in september...

p.s Morata isn't a top tier striker.

After spending 45 mil for someone like Xhaka, everything will be a loooooooot more expensive for arsenal. Teams already figured they are so desperate and will pay whatever for a player that they want.

he'll be 24 at the beginning of the season, players dont make massive jump in performance after that age in most cases.

He will get better in Arsenal due to the system and players around him. I think he's a good fit in the EPL.
