Its teds call to be honest. EG does what he is told. I thin Noel and a pick for beal is a decent trade. but ted might have made him untouchable.

I could see holding out for a pick and prospect if Beal had a couple years left on his rookie deal. However with a max deal, his value in a S&T is a pick or prospect at best.

His value is zilch. Maybe we get a 2nd rounder. That's about it.

I think if philly or any team offers him a max, and beal wants to take it, and we say give us said player or give us a pick or we match and keep him, call our bluff and see what happens. I think they fold because they have expendable assets right now. I think it depends on the situation and how well we take advantage of it and how bad another team wants beal.

It would seem that the ability to give a max deal to a player with inconsistent production wouldn't be worth much. However once teams strike out on Durant, Horford and a couple other players there aren't a lot of attractive big names on the FA market. I do agree at the top end that a team would call a bluff and offer a max deal rather than surrender a good first round pick.

There are a ton of teams that will have(or can easily create) cap space for Beal. This means the market will be larger than normal. The Sixers do seem to have the right combination of assets and urgency to get a deal done.

I think this might be academic since EG will either sign him or let him go.

As a Magic fan I would absolute offer him the max. Kid is still only 22, he has been injury prone but they seem fluky injuries broken wrist, sprained pelvis, sprained ankle. Nothing like a bum knee that would give me pause for his future. If he can stay healthy I think he is an all star. Plus we aren't drawing Durant or anyone of his stature to Orlando.

Quick question - do you think Beal is an improvement, or a significant improvement, over Fournier? I only saw him in games against the Wizards, but his numbers seem pretty close to Beal's.

An All-Star based on what? offensively he doesn't do anything well other than shoot 3s, and he isn't exactly a high volume 3 pt shooter.

I'd let it be known we'd match any offer for Beal while quietly advising his agent to search for a max deal elsewhere. If there are teams Beal can get offers from, I'd work the sign & trade aspect to take on some salary & get an asset in return.

I don't know how many offers Beal could get. His market may not be as hot as we think it is or it could be 5 or 6 teams in the mix. I think the Wizards could procure an asset if they play it right in a hot market. Beal doesn't have to work with us but the team interested in signing him may come to the table with an asset if the threat of matching any offer is strong enough.

I'm strongly against giving him the max but I would begrudgingly do so it if it came down to it. There's no other palatable option at the 2 other than DeRozan and I don't think he's coming here.

Not much question Ernie will bring him back. Whether we sign him right off or match a max offer, either way we will be left in a situation where "hope" is our best option. Hope he turns into the player we thought he could be when he was drafted. Hope is not much to get back for a max salary, unfortunately.

An All-Star based on what? offensively he doesn't do anything well other than shoot 3s, and he isn't exactly a high volume 3 pt shooter.

Not to quibble, but Beal does take 6.3 3pt. attempts per 40 minutes. Puts him #17 of the 45 SGs who played 25+ minutes. Only 4 of the 16 who shot more also shot a higher %.

We could still do a S&T with Beal. We sign him to the max and then trade for one (or two) of their bigs.
