Do the Wiz not understand that he's a Restricted FA and they can match whatever offer he gets? Why not just let the process play out - since there's at least a chance that they could save many millions?
The only "logical" reasoning I can think of is that they made an agreement with his agent that as long as they're willing to wait till late in the free agency period - so the Wiz can use the qualifying cap hold - to sign other free agents, the Wiz guarantee they'll give him a max deal. With a wink wink here and a nod nod there, here a wink, there a wink, everywhere...
I'm sure they knew that he was going to get the max from other teams out there.

That's written by J. Michael - who has zero credibility with ALMOST every poster here. If anything, that makes me think Beal wasn't going to get a max offer by anyone.
