Are people here really convinced that Davis' ceiling is higher than Chriss'?

Offensively Chriss might have a higher ceiling. But Chriss has huge warning size when it comes to rebounding, defense and getting into foul trouble.

Agreed. They have to swing for the fences now.

Chriss has been growing on me - He gets my vote.

I'd like to draft a 4. Perfect opportunity to properly develop a young 4.

Chriss for me. Though with Masia drafting you'll never know who we pick.

I enjoy these fan mock drafts. Thanks for setting it up.

I want a guy who plays with heart and has a good motor. I picked Davis under the assumption he has a decent jumper that will be further developed.

He only draws that comparison because they went to the same school and they're both athletic.

I didn't even make the school connection. I think of Ross because they both get criticized for playing at half speed and without focus.

Aside from that, he has red flags for a big man just due to his physical attributes and poor rebounding instincts.

To be specific, these are the quotes that scared me the most:

Chriss almost never puts a body on opposing big men in an attempt to box out and prepare for loose balls coming off the glass, and his relatively small standing reach (measured at 8'9, comparable with most small forwards) didn't help matters much. In addition to his instincts, his motor here leaves a lot to be desired as well, as if at times appears he's operating at half speed, and far more focused on his work on the offensive end.

Chriss was one of the most foul prone players in college basketball, being disqualified from 15 of his 34 games, and committing four fouls in ten others. Many of his fouls seemed highly unnecessary, particularly early in the season, and appeared to be almost entirely due to a lack of focus.

In today's NBA, many teams want to see their power forwards being able to hold their own as small-ball centers, and it's not clear that he has the frame, length or reach to be overly effective at that.

I don't mind swinging for the fences with a high risk, high reward player (eg. Bruno), I'd just like to see really strong signs that a guy has work ethic, focus, intensity etc. if we're going to go that route.

I haven't followed this year's draft very much, but why doesn't a player like Henry Ellenson not even in the discussion with Chriss and Davis.

Don't y'all wanta some Deyonta? He gets my vote. This team needs a Davis, we have a decent track record with them.

Wow, Valentine goes 8 to SAC. I like it, bold move if it were come to true by Vivek.

I don't really like any of the options available at 9 tbh. I guess I'd go with Skal.

The reason why I'm on team Davis is that he has great defensive upside compared to Chriss. Sure Chriss gets athletic blocks but he's not much of a rebound and doesn't really put a body on people at all.

Davis has shown great lateral quickness on the perimeter and on the interior. He can swtich onto guards and stay in front of them. Plus he's has superior size and length with comparable athleticism that Chriss has. He was also placed in a role when he wasn't required to use his jumpshot. He does have one that goes to the college three point line. Too me, Davis has upside on both ends but his defensive versatility is the final selling point for me. Plus the emphasis from the last draft and I think moving forward is to target two way players.

Davis reminds me of another Davis, Eduardo Davis. But, here's hoping this Davis can actually shoot a jumper on offence.
