Philly to explore trade offers for Okafor and Noel

Post#1 » by chosen12141 » Fri May 27, 2016 10:33 pm

I thought about a poll question, but at this point (Philly is exploring) it should be discussion only. I agree with the ESPN talking heads, Stien and Chad Ford, that the twin towers attempt have failed, and Okafor made it clear that he was not sold on playing in Philly!!

Philly will look for a trading partner soon, should we explore either of these guys, most of all, would either of them help us take the next step....and at what cost?

Covers it pretty well. Noel at the right price absolutely. Not sure what I'd be willing to give up though.

What I find interesting is that Noel loves it in Philly, and it is obvious that Okafor never wanted to be there....much like the Simmons kid from LSU. I can agree that Noel has much more value on the defensive side of the gym, but would he work with Vuc and AG?

So how much will Noel be due in restricted free agency in a year when the cap jumps even higher?

As long as they don't want Dipo, Hezonja, or Gordon then I'll take Noel.

We aren't going after more young guys this summer.

This was my first thought as well, but what happens if/when we strike out getting any of the limited number A list FA's? Do we continue to overlook them or do we study the options? I think Henny gives it great consideration as Plann B only! It makes sense. 8-)

We're in need of some solid veterans, but that's too general of an approach. Our window of "win now" doesn't start with next season. If we can get an upgrade at C like Noel, then we should want that. The cost to get him is going to be difficult for us, that's all. Would they take Elfrid? I'd do that.

I think they would do that but unfortunately we wouldn't. Pretty sure they are sticking it out with Elfrid now.

I dunno.. Philly might be able to get more. Non shooting PGs aren't in high demand.

The reason why our media is constantly asking about Elfrid is because everyone knows that he has some fundamental flaws in his game. But the coaches/GM aren't going to speak negatively about that. They are going to speak to his positives. But Vogel has had PGs who can shoot when he's been successful. So he's probably going to look to get that out of Elfrid or in find another option.

It's rare to get a big for a small, so that's another thing to keep in mind.

Noel, Gordon, Oladipo, Payton...opposing defenses would never leave paint. We'd be the Bizarro World Golden State Warriors.

I still do not understand the fascination with that twig Noel. He has zero offensive game and has such a weak frame. How the hell is he supposed to hold his own in the paint when he's only 8 pounds heavier than Gordon? Noel can't stand in a stiff breeze.

That said he's a decent defender at PF, but our #11 pick is the most I'd give for a rotational backup and small ball center.

Eh, Payton's more proven right now and if Vogel stays true to pushing the pace and using our speed then EP's about to take a huge step forward. He's already nasty IMO. When he plays well he's a complete game changer.

Would rather them acquire a big in free agency. No trades.

Yeah I was just under the impression that with everything that went down with skiles that management had locked in with Elfrid. I think Henny is pretty high on him. Your probably right though we would most likely have to attach a draft pick with it.
