Don't blew it up and stay patient. I can't see us becoming contender over one summer. So, spend Your money wise or rather keep it in You pockets, stay flexible and give Vogel a season to take a closer look at our assets. Reaching playoffs while playing AG/Dipo/Hezonja/Elf at least 30 or near 30 minutes per game would be A+ season imo.
Draft: Who to draft, or what to do with the draft pick?
Take some risk here. There no obvious choice at 11th so go for the ceiling, even if pick is going to be stashed or spend most of his rookie year in D-League. I like an idea of trading our pick for two of them if possible (obviously making Denver and Boston ideal partners). In no particular order Korkmaz, Maker, Zubac, Zizic, Zhou, Baldwin (probably forget someone) all look like steal potentials into this one and I believe in Henny when it comes to judging talents.
Free Agency: Who to sign, who to let go?
C, SF & PG are probably the positions we should invest into.
Personally, I can see small forward spot as only one worth longterm investment making Batum or Parsons our priorities, especially if they could be brought for something less than max with option to match Fournier as a legitimate plan B.
I really liked an idea of snatching Biyombo at 10M- per year but his stocks have raised so I don't think it would be possible now so I'm more open to signing a veteran backup (Noah, Mahinmi, maybe even someone really cheap as Hibbert considering his history under Vogel) on a 1 + 1 deal then splashing starters money on someone who is unsure thing like Whiteside or Biyombo.
I don't like PG FA market since I don't believe we have a shot on Conley so once again I would be satisfied with 1 + 1 veteran to share minutes with Elf. Lin seems like an obvious choice but I would consider Rondo, especially because he could become a perfect mentor for Elf.
Trades: Any trades?
I could see us acquiring some assets from someone who needs short term help with cap space but if we make any major move, quite sure it would come during the season rather than now. I would be ready to pay future second for someone as Bojan Bogdanovic for instance if Nets decide they having a valid chance of attracting two max free agents and need some extra space.
Final Roster: Up to you.
Assuming:
we let everyone not guarantied go except Nicholson (13M/3y deal) & Dedmon (7M/3y)
Sign Batum (80M/4y)
Sign Lin (12M/2y PO)
Sign Noah (25M/2y PO)
Draft Korkmaz @ 16 via Boston (stash)
Draft Maker @ 23 via Boston
C: Vucevic 28mpg/Noah 20
PF: AG 32/Nicholson 10/Vooch 6
SF: Batum 34/Hezonja 14
SG: Oladipo 34/Hezonja 14
PG: Elf 30/Lin 18
Dedmon/Watson/Maker (when not in D-League)/Marble as end of the bench rotation guys
Maybe not much of an improvement on a first sight but I'm expecting everyone to make at least step forward compared to their '15/'16 season under Vogel with all three signings being better players and fit than their peers.
still 20M under the cap so could be upgraded easily a bit more (or more probably those acquisitions would cost a bit more than I was hoping for)
Hopefully a PO contender but I'm hoping that we could come close of being one superstar from becoming a contender entering '16/'17 offseason and Henny should have assets to make that final step(s)
