Strike Call on 2-1 Pitch to Grandal
Even the Mets' broadcast team thought that was a ball for Grandal. As it turned out, Grandal ended up walking in a run to cut the deficit to 3 runs.

Corey's gotta recognize that with a base open, he'd much rather take his chances with Turner.
smfh.....now Upton has me nervous about whether we can get these 3 outs and go into extras.

It figures. Baez gives up the game-winning homerun to the 1st batter he faces in the bottom of the 9th inning. At least Urias didn't get the loss.

Who couldn't see that or feel that coming in their stomach when we didn't take the lead in the 9th?

Liberatore leads the staff in ERA, has not given up a HR, and a lefty against Granderson would have been ideal.
but I dunno. Vinnie Del Roberts likes guys who play the right way. I guess Pedro was the right guy at the right situation to play it the right way.

Yeah. Not impressed with Dave thus far if I'm being honest. I wonder what that says about Geren too. He's supposed to be in Dave's ear on these things. I am taking the Ranma approach with him though and hoping he could learn on the fly.
Liberatore could have got Curtis and turned Adrubal around and then there was Wright coming up 3rd.
#dumb
btw.
Frankie Montas....last 2 outings...scoreless.
1.2 IP last outing (last night???) with 4 Ks.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let Frankie work out. I couldn't deal with Frankie not working out.
ninja edit:
Frankie Montas is going up to AAA now

I don't understand Dave. if he is all in enough to have lazer pointers spot the location where the outfielders should be at each and every batter, why is he so goddamn stubborn about pitching changes/choices or his lefty/rightie insistence despite the actual stat saying otherwise?
and for our FO, I get why they brought up Urias to give him a spot start in the majors, definitely signaling that he is on a strict innings limits which I appreciate, but wonder if we could have taken a different path.
doesn't matter tho, in the end, the results will always justify the means and if that game had gone differently, I would be bashing how the FO may be risking the golden arm of Urias.
BTW can we just give Granderson a concussion and get it over with? would love to have him but hate to play against him.
ehhhhh f it.

IM now convinced that Dave Roberts is just a fill in Manager until the Dogs clear the junk from the Roster.
I give him until the end of next season.
I give him until the end of next season.
USA Celtics in full effect. Amazing chemistry building experience right there for the main core of the team
Proceeds to finish 7th and shames the entire nation!

Re: 2016 Regular Season Thread
Ryu's shoulder is sore again. now Im losing hopes to see him back in the rotation this year... and if and when he does come back, maybe for his and Maeda's sakes, we should run a 6 man rotation. at this point, 5 day rests maybe the key to preserve our fragile talents.
other than Kershaw, all others are either coming back from injuries or dealing with injuries.
Kazmir - Maeda - Ryu - Wood - Bolsinger all can use more rests...

FIRE DAVE ROBERTS
what the **** was the deal of pulling Kershaw with two outs in the 8th, and a lefty coming up to bat? to pull the best pitcher in the game at 100-ish pitch count with just one more out to get the game to Jensen? we are winning? and bring Liberatore up, I would understand if the game was tied or Kershaw was into 120-ish pitch count, but ONE MORE HITTER WHO IS A LEFTY on, Dave pulls Kershaw to give up a game tying triple....
FIRE DAVE. he is only meagerly, slightly, microscopically better than Donnie but that doesn't mean he isn't anything more than a mediocre manager. Tommy Lasorda would have never pulled his lefty ace for a lefty reliever with one more out to go. no way.

Dave Roberts Living Up to "Doc" Nickname
I've been giving Dave Roberts the benefit of the doubt as he works through his 1st season as the Dodgers' manager, but there is a limit to how many questionable moves I can excuse. Jansen last pitched on Wednesday, so it's not like he was tired. I know Liberatore had not been scored upon prior to entering the game, but out of arguably 3 options (stick with Kershaw, bring in Jansen, or go with Liberatore), Roberts picks the one that leads to a no-decision for Clayton who left the game with the lead.
I'm still sticking with Roberts, but it's not like I have blind faith that he knows what he's doing. I'm hoping for marked improvement for this season, but I'm not sure how realistic that is.

I'm glad we scored two runs on Gonzo's hit but we should have never been in this situation, and now who becomes the winning pitcher? Liberatore for giving up that tying homerun?

Granderson tripled in a runner, otherwise, it would have been a 2-run shot for a lead for the Mets.
