Utah has Exum. Why would they want Wall at the cost of Favors?

If Utah has unwavering faith that Exum is going to be very good very soon, they wouldn't deal Wall for Favors.
However, even if Exum turns out to be quite good, it likely won't happen too soon. He was wretched as a rookie and sustained a serious injury and missed his sophomore season. He's got to go through to process of regaining his confidence in his body -- then he has tons of work to do to become a decent NBA player. I'm not saying it won't happen, just that he's way behind the rest of the Jazz roster.
It Utah loves Exum (and I can see the appeal of a Wall/Hood/Exum backcourt trio growing together) they should offer Favors, Burke, #9 and a lotto protected '17 pick.
Wall/Exum
Hood/Burks
Hayward/Burks
Lyles/
Gobert/Withey
Look at Ryan Anderson, Sullinger, Marvin Williams, etc in free agnecy. That's a good team.

Now... it's usually a mistake to trade a superstar, because superstar salaries are one of the only available bargains in the league's salary structure. But, this is not an issue with Wall, because he's not a superstar. He's an outstanding NBA player, but he's not a superstar.
He's still a bargain. See: Demarre Carrol's contract, etc. it's the new norm.
You're right -- Wall's contract is a bargain in the current and upcoming salary structure of the league -- didn't mean to suggest otherwise. There's a cap on salaries but not a similar one on how much a player can contribute to wins. E.g. Wall makes @ twice as much as Markieff Morris, but he contributes a lot more than twice as many wins.
So, Wall is terrific, but all the same you could imagine a trade that would make sense. But, you can't imagine a trade of e.g. Jordan at his peak that would have worked under the cap back then and would have been a good trade for the Bulls. A true superstar is always a huge bargain. Not too many of them, however.

Exum may be really good - after a few more years. As a rookie, he was arguably the single worst player in the NBA. It might take him till he becomes a free agent to become a good NBA player, and it's not even clear that he's going to make it as a point guard. Wall for Favors might not make a whole lot of sense, but Exum shouldn't factor into it, imo.

The signing Conley part is probably fantasy, but he's a hell of a player -- and there may be a part of him that wants to come east because he hasn't been able to get his due (or make the All-Star team) in the West.
The interesting thing about a Wall-Favors swap is that I think Utah would add more value, to the point where the Wizards could really make out.
Utah would have Wall locked up at a fair contract for another year than they have Favors. Utah already has a dominant defensive big in Gobert and Lyles looks be a very good player who fits well. Gobert-Lyles-Hayward-Hood-Wall has the look of an elite defensive team that can be at least average on offense -- that's a really good team.
So what else could the Wizards get? Exum? The #9 pick?
It's worth exploring.
Exactly, if Utah sweetens the pot it's definitely interesting. Favors+9 for Wall would be tough to turn down IMO. Next question would be who can we flip Keef for? Maybe to Sacto for Koufos+Casspi? Not sure Conley signs when other teams like SA will also be in the mix. Speaking of SA, what about taking on Tony Parker as short term PG solution and vet leader (assuming he becomes available)?
Gortat/Koufos
Favors/#9
Porter/Casspi
Beal/Oubre
Parker/Sato
Not sure where that leaves us cap wise, so there may still be more options.
Because any time you can trade a perennial all star for 2 players that will probably never be all stars you have to do it. I swear some of the Wall hate on this board is absurd.

Nah, it's not about Wall hate. It's about the magic of the offseason! Trades, trades, trades!

Cobra Commander, these are off the top--I'll come up with more.
A a Wall trade right now could go either way IMO.
Minnesota traded Kevin Garnett and has been even more irrelevant for a decade . . . . and we have Grunfeld as GM; do you trust him to do this right?
Although the Timberwolves could have been very relevant had they drafted Steph Curry and they had 2 chances with the #5 and #6 picks.

Favors is an all star quality big IMO. if we had him and an average or better PG that could shoot threes we'd be a solid playoff team and with the attention he'd then get, he'd make the all star team. And he's on a great contract for 2 more years. We'd be trading a that's appropriately rated or slightly overrated for one that's way underrated. If we made the trade I wouldn't trade Morris, he'd be a good third big and paid appropriately for that role.
Making extreme statements like "only" sounds like there are "no" Jokics in this draft? Jokic is an engine that was drafted in the 2nd round. Always a chance to see diamond dropped by sloppy burgular after a theft.

Favors is solid. All-Star quality? That's debatable. I'd say he's 10 top at his position.
I just don't see how a Favors/Wall swap makes the Wizards any better. Even if Utah is kicking in a secondary piece like a pick how does that help the Wizards improve? To me were just swapping deck chairs, only to create a massive hole at PG with Mike Conley being the only passable starting option on the market with probably 10 teams lining up for his services.

Well I did originally say that it was fantasy, and the fantasy included signing Conley. From there I've just been defending Favors' worth as a player.

76ers are reportedly trading Noel and Okafor. Would we find any possible assets to trade for Noel? Oubre/Temple/Morris for Noel + some other variations from 3rd team?
Noel + Gortat would be scary good!

Well, Morris could get all the weed he wants in Philly. So there's that.
Wall, Beal, Porter, Noel and Gortat collectively couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.

I'd do Beal for Okafor all day long daddy.
Not that interested in Noel honestly.

I'd actually be more interested in a Beal for Noel swap than a Beal for Okafor.

I would like to have Noel first as well - just simply for rim protection.
