If you're going to trade Lowry, then you might as well blow it all up then.

Re: Trading Lowry while his Value is at it's highest
I'll start by saying I am a wizards fan so this isn't personal- BUT the thought that fans have about trading your BEST player while his value is high (especially in the NBA) has little to no established merit. I hear it all the time on my board how we want to trade our BEST player "while his value is high" for a bunch of 'prospects'. It's maddening for me to hear it there but....I find solace in knowing that fans on other boards say the same maddening things
. People actually point to the Melo from Denver trade as a success or an example because Denver had ONE decent year after Melo went to NYC. But I see no real examples of where a team traded it's BEST player and then won a ring as a direct result. I hate Drake, I love the city of Toronto BUT I really hate the raptors because you stand between the wiz and a ring...but the truth is...TORONTO IS BUILDING SOMETHING and Lowry is one of the key cogs in that "something"...trade him at your own peril because unless you get Westbrook, Curry, Durant or Lebron back (or someone in that next level of ELITE player OR Lowrys equal but younger) you are not going to get better to the tune of WINNING a ring. Toronto should be thinking we are on the cusp of making it to the finals and the last thing you need to do is get rid of your best player. But please trade Lowry to a Western Conference team to the Wizards benefit.

Re: Trading Lowry while his Value is at it's highest
Who needs a PG in their prime and has the assets and inclination to even make us an offer for Lowry? The only thing I could see working is something like Aldridge + Parker for Lowry + Carroll + Ross, since San Antonio needs to get more athletic and upgrade their PG spot, but that's beyond improbable. We'd also lose Biyombo or DeRozan in this scenario. Also we'd all kill ourselves watching DeRozan and Aldridge take 45 mid-range Js per game.
Where's the D?

Lowry is exiting his prime, he'll soon be a liability on defense. Trade him. Sign Derozan and trade him. Let go of Casey.
Give JV more touches.

Masai won't trade him as long as we keep winning.
He will continue to add talent to this team and will keep building on the fly until this core can't produce anymore.
Much like how San Antonio has been run these last 20 years, that's how I see Masai running this organization.

Re: Trading Lowry while his Value is at it's highest
I would have no problem trading Lowry if the return was high enough. Let's say BC acts like BC and offers the first pick overall and a player. You have to look at that. Not only do you get two starters back and one that could be as good as Lowry in a short span, you save 30 million in cap room two years away.
I would also say MU has to look at it if he has any hint that Lowry would not re-sign. And no that does not mean you have to blow it all up. It may put you even further ahead which would be the reason to make a trade.

New York Knicks say hi.
If Masai sees advantage in trading Kyle I'm all for it, but never assume that first round picks are useless or we might end up like Knicks fans.

also if demar does leave, it will suck but we shouldnt just blow it up b/c then we would be in treadmill land.
demar is a great player but we can still compete without him especially if our younger guys step up.
The team we would trade Lowry to would have the whole off-season and season to re-sign Lowry. Like I said, if the pacers are looking to trade George, why not Lowry and JV for a George and filler(Allen)?
Same with Sacramento, if cousins is available, why not take Lowry and JV for Cousins and filler(kofus, Belli)
I doubt either of those teams can get better deals and we'd be getting the better player.
You guys act like I'm saying trade Lowry for nothing. I'm saying trade lowry for players that are better(Cousins or George) or have the potential to be better(ingram)
But you think you can win with Lowry and Derozan as your best two players, keep it as is.
Trading Lowry for cousins alone makes us worse. Nvm lowry and Val. Think you underestimate the value Lowy has for our team. He is arguably a top 10 player in this league with his all around game.
We get cousins yes, but than we need to replace Lowrys production and find another floor leader.

Re: Trading Lowry while his Value is at it's highest
Lowry is the heart and soul of the Toronto Raptors. Without him we may not have even made the playoffs. What would that day about our franchise also to trade a guy after having the beat year in our history. This is the worst idea I've ever heard. Lowry needs to and will remain a Raptor until he's at least out of his prime.
I have no idea who is available and what the trade value going out would need to be, but one comes to mind.
Trade Ross + draft picks to Atlanta for S&T Al Harford. Not sure if the salaries have to match here, but if they do we could include Cory Joseph.

i dont think we can but if we can draft well, who knows
the thing is, u are acting like lowry/jv can make cousins/pg attainable without looking at other teams packages.
celtics can offer #3 / swapping righhts with brooklyn and any one of thier young players. hell they could give up bradley (first team all defense) for cousins
lakers could offer a chance at another superstar in ingram/simmons plus randle for PG.
these packages blows ours out of the water. it gives them young players with a boatload of potential with team friendly contracts for 6 years (with rfa).
no matter how u slcie it, lowry would be a ufa likely demaning a max or leaving to a contender. thats a huge fkin risk
