Re: The Trade Thread: All Eyes Toward The Offseason
If it's true that Philly can't ship out OK4 for a top 6 pick. WOW.
Either something must REALLY be wrong with him that we don't know about (attitude??) or he is way undervalued.
Perhaps the success of KAT, KP, and even Booker just overshadowed him.
If we really have the chance to swap #4 straight up for OK4 and we don't do it...I'm gonna be pissed.

Look, I'm not saying I'm an authority on LSU, but I do live here so I saw a fair number of games. Is Johnny Jones a good coach? Not in the least. But Simmons *was* coached. The kid is prone to pouting when he doesn't have it going and not very aggressive. He didn't call for the ball and would just float or totally disappear at times. It wasn't like his team mates were freezing him out. That narrative is being sold by his agents and it looks like everyone is buying it. He's still an extraordinarly talented kid, but turning the offense of an NBA team completely over to him is half-baked at best.

The whole narrative, that he didn't have plays drawn up for him and teammates resented him for being the favorite of his god father coach is overblown, he was unselfish to a fault and would pass over good looks in crunchtime to Quarterman/Blakensely because they actually had range outside of 10 feet. He had a terrible showing in the SEC tourney and basically told LSU to turn down the NIT bid because he didn't care enough. A true competitor never backs down from the challenge

For people who doesnt respect Okafor enough...
As a 19 year old big man... He put up 17ppg 8rpbg 1.5bpg... On nice percentages.
I expect the rebounds to go up if he plays on a team without another specialist rebounder... In Philly, he played next to Noel.
Its not far fetch at all... That by the time he is 22 years old... He would be a 23ppg 10rpg 2bpg big man.... Thats Cousins numbers.
But dont tell Colangelo that..
Well hopefully he feels sorry for Suns and helps Suns out... Whilst 76ers get their PG in Dunn and maybe Knight in the process...
Knight and pick 4 for Okafor and Convington??
If the Sixers are seriously shopping Okafor and it took a little extra on top of Knight/#4 I would possibly add Miami 2018 1st. Okafor/Booker is as sure thing as Towns/Wiggins.

That narrative was something I saw a die hard LSU fan say a long while back. Sure, every player has his faults, and I'm not even a huge Ben Simmons fan. I agree that if he was THAT good he would have gotten his team to the tourney...I think I mentioned as much in the draft forum and got that response from an LSU fan.

I missed this rumor...Sixers can't get a top 6 pick for Okafor?

Hmmm.......Not quite, but not a bad start. Towns plays crazy good D and away from the basket as well as under the basket. Booker is definitely Wiggins equal although a total different type of game. If Okafor plays better defense they could be just a notch below those two.

BW must have some other info, but I trust him on that. I know Sixers were looking for a top 6 pick, but hadn't zero'd in on anything.

Not really, Wiggins actually has two-way potential that he has yet to realize, Thibs should get him back on track and prevent him from becoming another Gay/Derozan. Booker is more comparable to Lavine(might just end up a rich man's GGreen), he is probably the superior prospect long term but their rookie seasons were pretty similiar with Booker putting up higher volume numbers on marginally better effeciency because he was asked to shoulder the entire load

Booker will get better defensively for sure, it all starts with the refs. Second, I prefer Booker's offense over Wiggins. You compared him to Lavine as a player......wow!

I researched articles today and found two....I think one on yahoo vertical and one maybe from Ford at espn? I don't know if that means that is truly not enough because teams will be jockeying for a better offer. I still am not entirely convinced McD would make the trade though.
Edit...looking for them...
I guess this one is more speculation though http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nba-ball-dont-lie/okafor--noel-rumors-show-that-the-sixers---process--is-truly-over-004118400.html

Re: The Trade Thread: All Eyes Toward The Offseason
I was talking about Lavine, geez this board sometimes. Anyways yeah Booker is a pure shooter whereas Lavine is more of a erratic heat check guy who did post crazy splits in the month of march (shot over 50% from the field and over 40% from three on significant volume) both t are off guards who can playmake. Booker has the cerebral BBIQ but not the freak athleticism of a back to back slam dunk champ.Sorry for even mentioning them in the same sentence

I'd rather Towns and scrub than Booker and Okafor, let's be real.
If you turn down getting KAT for Booker and pick 4 you'd never work in the NBA again.

KG mentoring Towns is HUGE for why he is doing well defensively...
Okafor next to a defensive big man to coach him will be huge... only if the Suns had one.

lol... clearly, the sentence structure made it so that Lavine was the one referred to as a rich man's Gerald Green..
But still... I'm a big fan of LaVine.... he can be a better ball handling version of JR Smith... which is a good thing.

Didnt know the suns have a system...
Hornacek tried the 2 PG even 3 PG systen but that went terrible.
Watson's system consists of playing Booker 40 minutes...
There is no system....
Are you somehow under the impression that Jeff Hornacek is our coach? Seriously? Did I miss something? Saying we don't currently have a system because Jeff had a crazy one is nonsense.

Re: The Trade Thread: All Eyes Toward The Offseason
KAT is the most untouchable player in the league,Booker is no where near that pedestal. Minny says no even if we kept the Lakers pick and could somehow guarantee it to convey as Top 5 in a stacked 2017 class + make Don Riley retire to juice up the 2018/2021 Miami picks

Suns DO NOT have a system, they dont have an identity either. I dont even know why its a debate, watching the Suns try to set up Chandler for lobs 4-5 times a game out of broken plays... watching Telly just camp at the elbow and launch shots whenever he gets the ball, no intention of passing it. Booker being ask to create and be a shooter at the same time... Watson saying Morris was the Suns go to guy, then Booker, then Len as an offensive option.. as a jump shooting big man...
its chaos.... no structure at all.
I mentioned Hornacek, because he was coach, when the Suns last had a "system".. which was 2-3 PGs.... that was the last time the Suns had a direction..... but it failed.
