Everything wouldn't be the same if he could play in this series. Can't wait to see him fully recover and play next season.

It's pretty sickening that we finally had a good season like this and he missed it. His stats were darn good too. A lot of what we are missing is mitigated by the lee trade but he's probably the biggest missing piece in the eastern conference playoffs. I think he's more valuable than bosh at this stage of their careers.

Over/under for next year? 48 games played

16 points 8 rebounds per 36 minutes with a true shooting percentage of 60 and elite defense.

I'm an optimistic person generally so I'll definitely take the over on 48 games played.

If MKG doesn't play 65+ games next season, I'd be looking to trade him next summer. At some point you have to cut your losses and go in a different direction.

Coincidentally, my first time back on the court after a long ass time today as well. Somehow my MKG T-shirt is a good luck charm and I was swishing threes like I hadn't missed a beat. :lol:

**** up my foot though. I'm way out of shape and at least 20 pounds heavier than I've ever been. Not even surprised it happened. Hopefully MKG is way better at staying in shape than I am

I meant to bring this up the other day. The way OKC is using Roberson, as the screener/roll man/center on offense would be a nice blueprint for the Hornets when playing some unorthodox lineups, rather than just sticking MKG in a corner and allowing his man to cheat off him.

Clifford has to get creative with MKG in order to keep him moving and to keep his defender honest.

MKG can hit from the corners now so they can leave him open all they want. But I definitely won't argue against finding other creative ways to get him scoring opportunities. Just sticking him in the corner is a waste of his talents and abilities.

It would probably work really well, but i doubt cliff is creative enough to use it.

Was our offense this past season not creative though? Kind of thought we were past the whole "Cliff isn't creative enough to coach a good offense" take.

That's an interesting way to phrase it. I'm going to break it down.

Is Cliff good? Yes. What he showed us this year is that he can coach his system. He finally had the players to play it and he delivered.

Is Cliff creative. No. He's a system coach who is very stubborn. He'll make some adjustments, but by and large IMHO he's naturally reluctant to make certain changes or try certain things. That's just who he is.

All that said, Cliff seems to me mostly to be impressed with what wins deep into the playoffs. In the past he talked about small ball being a losing way to play ... until it finally won in the finals, for example. And summer seems to be the time when he makes most of the bigger tweaks to what he wants to do. So, again IMHO, if he's going to do this with MKG, it's the right timing.

Are we calling Marvin Williams (or even Cody Zeller) a traditional big?

You could say Cliff did exactly what you wanted him to do by bringing in Marv to make him a stretch PF.

My question was about this past season. I don't feel like lack of flexibility or creativity is a fair critique of his coaching last season.
