90's to Now Fantasy Draft: Sign ups

Welcome to the 90's to Now Fantasy Draft Game!

I, PMOTT3, will be your commissioner and doing everything in my power to make sure this game is ran properly and smoothly.

This version will be very similar to the "Modern Era" one we just played with the exception of a few (more) twists. I am going to need 16 total players to sign up for this game. We will not be using judges. When the draft is completed everyone will send me their rankings of who they felt had the best team and once I recieve everyone's rankings I will start the playoffs. After we have a crowned winner from the playoffs the game will be completed. No free agency. Just the draft, trades, rankings, playoffs, and announcing the winner.

Draft Rules:

1. Every player from the 1990-1991 to the 2015-2016 season will be available to be drafted. You can draft players that came into the league before 1990 but you must state the year you are taking with them--and that year can't be before 1990. For example, If I wanted I could choose to draft any 90's version of MJ even though he came into the league in 1984.

2. You will have to draft 8 players (basically a playoff rotation) I don't think we need more than that. We'll have to find a way to give everybody some serious playing time, and it's hard to do it if you have 10 or 12 players on your team - with 8, you can still get a backup center, forward and guard, and give all of them more than 20 minutes of playing time (which is enough to make a significant impact).

3. Your team as a whole will be allowed 85.0 FGA (that's 10.6 FGA per player). That's just slightly above what league-average in the 2015-16 regular season was (it was 84.6 FGA). The purpose of this is to encourage people to actually build a team and not have unrealistic collections of talent that have no chance of functioning well as a team.

4. Everyone will be required to draft at least 3 players for their bench who started less than 41 games. This rule will prevent anyone from having a star player coming off their bench and will ultimately lead to more of a "team" based roster.

5. You must state the specific season of the player you choose to draft. You don't have to do it right away when you make your selection but you must state it on your team roster page (more on that later)

6. We will be doing a modified snake draft. It will go like this.. ABBAABBA

7. Players will get a maximum of a 6 hour window to make their selection in the draft. If they still have not chosen a player then they will be auto-drafted or moved back in the draft. Also, if you know ahead of time that you won't be available to make your pick on the clock then please PM your selection so I can make the pick for you.

8. Draft order will be completely randomized

9. After you have made your selection, please quote the person that goes after you so they will know that it is their turn and they are on the clock.

Team Roster Page Rules:

1. Just like in GMAT, you will be responsible for creating a roster page of your fantasy team.

-Here are the things that you will be required to include on your roster page..
. Players
. Rotations
. Trades
. The most important of all, you must show the total FGA per player on your roster AND a total sum of each players FGA to display that it is under the required 85.0 FGA

-All of the above must be completed before playoffs begin.

Trade Rules:

What good is it to have a fantasy draft on a trade board without including trades, am I right?

1. So yes there will be trades in this draft BUT they will strictly be the trading of picks NOT the trading of players.

2. All trades must have have an even number of outgoing/incoming picks. Here is an example..

This is acceptable:

Person X trades his 2nd round, 3rd round, and 6th round picks

Person Y trades his 1st round, 6th round, and 8th round picks

This is not acceptable:

Person X trades his 2nd round and 3rd round picks

Person Y trades his 1st round pick.

3. There will be a seperate thread labeled "Trades" and this is where each individual that is involved in a trade must post their trade with eachother. The trade will not be accepted until one of the individuals posts the trade in the thread and the other must quote the post saying something like "I accept" or "I agree". Also, do NOT forget to label the number of the trade you are involved in. This makes it easier on me to track trades.

4. You must post all trades you are involved in on your team roster page under the "Trades" header. I will be checking this as well.

Playoff/Rankings Rules:

1. After the draft has been completed, every single person must email me their rankings. The rankings need to be in order from best to worst, of which teams they feel are the best in their eyes. You can not rank your own team!

2. These rankings will determine the seeds for playoffs. In order for a team to advance in the playofffs, they must recieve 5 votes. First team to recieve 5 votes first in their matchup will advance to the next round.

-After we have a winner in the playoffs the game will end!

90's, you say? I still wear flannel, and I've even still got my copy of Hootie & the Blowfish's Cracked Rearview CD somewhere.

Count me in. Thanks!

Quick Q - can you change years in the playoffs for matchup purposes (as long as you keep below 85 FGA)

Been a while since I've played in a game like this. I'll give it a go.

Recommend a modified snake order such as ABBA (as in, the team with the first pick picks last in the second and third rounds) to adjust for the impact of the Jordans and Shaqs of the world.
