2015-16 Season Appreciation thread

Post#1 » by Old Man Game » Tue May 31, 2016 4:40 am

We experienced the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. Tragedy, triumph and everything in between. I thought it'd be good to take a moment to just appreciate what this team accomplished.

I feel pretty good about the season all and all. Game 6 and everything. We just ran out of gas. Some of our role players that played a little over their heads for a couple weeks finally ran out of magic and at that point it was clear we were doing good just to be in some of these games. On that note I can appreciate the run we just had, even if we didn't get to the promised land.

So here's to the Thunder's 15-16 season. May they come back better than ever next year.

This is definitely a sticky. Wanna post highlights or whatever, go for it.

Feels like yesterday they were beating the Spurs in the first game of the year and then losing to a bunch of random teams, giving Houston their first win, Singler playing a ton, all sorts of junk.

They developed so well, including Donovan.

We sucked for most of the season and the last three games showed our true colors. I appreciate Russ, Roberson and Steven. The whole rest of the team underperformed the entire year with the exception of a hot 8 game stretch. KD should be crushed for his playoff performance all offseason. I hope Dion, Enes and Serge are all gone.

Same **** team as we saw in November.
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.

Dion once more confirmed how ridiculously awesome this team can be with another solid wing though. Pity he's not consistent enough to believe it's him.

It was typical Dion, he looks best when nothing is actually needed from him. Beyond that the last two series were fool's gold. Blowouts take a lot more luck than skill and in every close game (even the ones we won) you could see the same issues popping up as earlier in the season. Our defense picked up a few times plus other teams missed shots but the offense was just as horrendous as always.

Agree that was junk losing to a team who lost a combined 60 points the previous three games on a pair of Dwight free throws, and thank you DJ Augstin with your GOAT 3rd quarter!

My memory dates back three years ago when KD hit that ridiculous three pointer which shattered our dream of getting back to the series without Westbrook. Since then, you guys went through one injury after another. It's not the home run injuries like our Tmac and Yao, which we know even with both of them healthy our team back then were still flawed. You guys though, had KD winning the MVP missing a lot of Westbrook, and Westbrook producing one triple dub after another without KD and dragging the team towards playoffs. Of course, Ibaka's loss in the Spurs series could have really tip the series. With the past three seasons considered, I think this season by itself is a success as not many thought you guys would get pass the Spurs let alone scoring three chances of eliminating the Warriors.

At this point I am confident KD will sign his expected 1+1, and with this great post season run plus assuming Waiters not being offered his QO, much more matured head coach, there should a lot to look forward to this summer, including the FO creatively dealing Kanters' contract.
RealGM loves you, Melissa.

I think something I appreciate from the season is Reggie Jackson revealing his true colors. Made the thought of him no longer being here a lot more palatable. Also having another villain in the league (from our point of view) can make interesting games out of what would otherwise be boring games against a middling Eastern Conference also ran.

Yeah I enjoy the rivalry, except the handful of Pistons fans who seem to suddenly think that he's become something special and want to feel like he's the good guy in the fight. Assuming that's what the tweet was about its amazing a middling starter has the guts to tweet a taunt after his team got swept and likely is in the same boat for the foreseeable future.

So far as I can tell he's mostly been roasted for it. Some of the guys on the Pistons board even thought it was bad form. You'll always have some fans who have their player's back but that's to be expected.

Don't forget Reggie barking at Stan after he got that tech in game 1 of their series against Cleveland too. Then in the presser Stan tried to say I'm sure he understands he did wrong and Reggie came in and was just like "I wish I'd got the call." Looked really entitled. Like, the guy doesn't seem to understand he's not a superstar and won't be getting superstar calls anytime soon.
