If Okafor is traded for the 3rd pick, who do you want most?

Post#1 » by bwgood77 » Tue May 31, 2016 4:29 am

I know there is a similar topic about whether or not people want Okafor traded at all, but I was curious who the fan base was more excited about as far as a prospect goes with that pick. If mods don't want this thread, go ahead and lock.

It seems the talk is Dunn, but if I was a Philly fan and going for Simmons I would probably opt for Murray.

Murray and I'll let him play PG.

Murray can make his teammates better with the ball thru assists. Without the ball, he can space the floor for his teammates to operate. Defense it not that required at the PG position. Murray, like modern NBA players, are plug and play.

Lol. I had to google that.

But to the question, I think Dunn or Bender have potential to be 2 way players. Considering the small sample size of Bender and redundancy at that position I would go for Dunn.

Im really torn between Dunn and Murray, while i like a 2 way player, I think Murray is a great compliment to Simmons (if we want to give Simmons the ball and let him create).

That said, the thought of moving Jah for just 1 of those two guys makes me sad, as I don't think either have anywhere near the ceiling he does :(

I want Dunn badly, but would not be mad if they choose Murray.

Murray. The best defensive PG's in the league really aren't making a huge impact. Meanwhile guys like Curry/Irving/Lillard are blowing games open with their shooting. PG is the least important position defensively.

Dunn and it isn't close. I really don't see what others see in Jamaal Murray. He isn't special. There are guys like him in every draft, that get picked outside of the lottery. If you're going to trade Okafor for Murray, you might as well trade the #3 pick for Jordan Clarkson.

Kris Dunn by FAR. Kid has potential to be a star IMO and that is why you pick him. Murray reminds me of a better Jodie Meeks. Every time I watch Kris Dunn on youtube I instantly think of D-Wade. He has a lot of the same moves, shooting form, etc.

I have been totally against trading Okafor, but I'm starting to warm up to the idea. IF Simmons & Embiid live up to their potential, we need a third piece at gaurd to form our version of the BIG 3. Most title teams these days have a BIG 3. OKC - Durant - Westbrook - Ibaka...Curry - Thompson - Green...Lebron - Irving - Love....Simmons - Embiid - Dunn. I can work with it.

I wouldn't care that would be such a lopsided trade I would be done. I already experienced the BC experience once in TOR.

I have no intentions of watching him make the same mistakes again.

I'd take Bender and set up this future frontcourt:

Embiid- Bender - Simmons

All 3 guys would have size, skill, athleticism and rebounding. We'd be murder on defense with our bigs being able to switch onto wings. When Embiid gets pulled away from the rim Bender would provide some rim protection. In this scenario even Simmons would provide some length as a SF. Bender and Embiid's shooting make up for Simmons' jumper so they cover him there to allow for court spacing. Bender is supposed to be an excellent passer for a big.

I suppose we could draft Murray for his shooting but his mediocre athleticism, size and handle combined with poor defense does limit his upside. He has never shown Curry's incredible ability to get off 3-pointers while guarded by quality defenders (Steph could even do it in college).

The issue with Dunn is that his shot is awkward so I worry about how it'll translate. I also worry about him hitting NBA 3's as he just doesn't seem to have much range. Lastly he's pretty loose with the ball. He has good size, athleticism and defensive potential so he at least has that going for him. He's old for a prospect, though, so you have to discount his numbers markedly when comparing him to a true Freshman like Murray.

At the end of the day I think Baldwin is a better fit than either of these guys beside Simmons because of his combination of shooting, secondary ball handling/creation and defensive potential (6-11 wing span, strong body, decent athleticism). I don't know where he's projected to go right now but getting Boston's 16 and then trading up with our late first rounder may be enough to move up and snag him.

I really like Kris Dunn.

I think a Dunn -- Simmons -- Embiid core has the potential to be great defensively *and* in transition. That's a big / fast / athletic / skilled trio in transition.

I want to trade Okafor because I dislike his game, and drafting Jamal Murray with the pick acquired him would be like getting Okafor back in guard form. No thanks.

I also think Jamal Murray will have a much harder time getting good shots off in the NBA. At least Russell showed some creativity with his dribble (and could pass the ball).

Watching these playoffs, I don't like that idea. League is going small and shooting is so valuable. Trade big for a project big, nah

I'm going Murray. If the pick was Ingram I would go Dunn. Watching the wcf, with Simmons being the likely pick I have to go with Murray. The Sixers will need 2 high quality 3 pt shooters on the court to give Simmons room to operate. Murray could be one of them.

Agreed.

Dunn/Ingram might make some sense, but Murray/Simmons makes more.

Personally, I like Dunn over Murray but if Simmons is the pick, I'd go Murray. I don't think you'd maximize Dunn's skillset pairing him with Simmons. So I guess I'd be going Simmons/Murray or Ingram/Dunn.
