You already know you're my go-to source of knowledge, but this just really makes me feel like a very poor man's Smitty. I feel like the Harold Miner of RealGM Trades and Transactions posters to your Michael Jordan.

Quick question, how do I access this to edit with my own trades and signings, etc.?
Disclaimer: Trades I post shouldn't make you stressed or angry if you disagree. If you say it's unproductive because it won't happen and we're only allowed to post deals that actually happen, it takes away 99% of trades here and the fun out of the board.

Hahaha! Thanks man. I appreciate it!

I don't have an editable version posted publicly. I'm on the fence on posting one to be honest. I don't want to lose the integrity of the doc. You can always copy and paste info from the doc if you want and then edit from there.

I wonder if there is a way to use this with the technologically advanced guys at RealGM or a software place like Wolverine Studios or Grey Dog Software to make a software that could do a full Mock Off-Season. Basically like a really advanced Trade Checker where you could do a full off-season for any where from 1 team to all 30 teams including everything from renouncing free agents, stretching player salaries, sign and trades, free agent signings, draft picks, regular trades, etc. showing how many roster spots need to be filled to require the minimum, a notice when you've reach the roster spot maximum and the resulting cap space from each transaction. I've always dreamed of that kind of software, but have no tech skills.

The user would put in the incoming free agent salary and it would automatically deduct that from the team signing him's cap space and other features. Like I said you could do just your favorite team with this software all the way up to all 30 teams if you so choose.

You think any one would be able to do the tech of that kind of software?

I'm sure someone could. It would be pretty heavy investment in time. You could do a really primitive version in Excel as well. But to make a UI that is hosted online somewhere would be pretty massive.

Yeah I may have to fine tune my Excel skills to do that. Is there any way to use your spread sheet to accomplish that? Where each transaction I do adds that new player to their new team or removes the player from their old one then updates the cap space accordingly? I would definitely do a more in-depth Mock Off-Season 2.0 if I had that kind of assistance to simplify everything.

I'm sure you could right code to do it. Myself, because my code skills are relatively limited, I just do it manually.

For example, whenever someone throws me a scenario, I work in a copy of the workbook and plug stuff in and see what it looks like. Primary reason is again that I'm not that good of a coder. The secondary reason is that I like moving things around.

For what you want to undertake, I can see the desire to make it less manual. I just don't have the skill set to help you. Basically, my feeling is I gave you a whole bunch of ingredients, you make the dinner how you choose! :D

I think I may have to really research Excel processes and do the Mock Off-Season through Excel to at least automatically process the calculations.

If the Clippers renounced Jamal Crawford, Jeff Green and Austin Rivers would the Clippers actually have cap space?

Technically no. Because then you add back the MLE and the BAE, along with the other cap holds and it would still keep them just slightly over.

But if they renounced everyone (which could make since because the others are minimum guys or they don't have any sort of Bird right on them) and waived Dawson, but kept the Draft pick, they'd have just over $10 million in space.

Not saying the Woj LeBron report is true, but let's assume LeBron gave the Cavaliers two options, he could sign with Miami for the MAX with the Cavs getting nothing in return to play with Wade or he would sign with the Clippers in a Blake Griffin and C.J. Wilcox sign and trade for the MAX to play with Paul. The Clippers cap space after renouncing every one, plus Blake Griffin's salary and C.J. Wilcox's salary would equal LeBron's MAX, right?
