IMO, Dunn is the BPA at #3. The trick becomes how we make him fit.

This is my guy at #3. Superstar. He is gonna be 1 of 2 or 3 guys we look at from this draft class as the head of the class. Simmons, Hield, Dunn

I haven't really watched Buddy Hield play , but I don't think he is going to be a superstar . More like an All Star. They're only three superstars in the NBA. Lebron James, Steph Curry and maybe Kevin Durant.

Does Hield have a speech impediment?

Idk he speaks clearly at times, but then at others his words are all jumbled together.

I agree. Simmons obviously won't be available, so I want Hield or Dunn, and put a gun to my head, I'd pick Hield of the two, but will be happy with either.

Ingram has the worst chicken legs I've ever seen. I honestly don't think he'll be able to put on and hold the weight needed to thrive in the NBA.

I'm really warming up to another posters idea about trying to package Smart with the 16th pick to move up into the top 8 and catch a good prospect that drops. All the while using the 3rd pick to trade for an established player or keep it and pick Dunn. Who seems to be the type of all around back court player DA covets. A two way player whose a true pg with size. lots of people say Smart is still going to be a player. I believe that true. But if he has another 25% 3pt year next year. His value is just about decimated and he wouldn't be able to fetch even the 15th pick next year by himself. I'm sure the Celtics are quietly wondering wtf happened to his shot this year. It was half past lousy.

Smart AND the 16th pick? I wouldn't trade Smart for the 4 pick straight up.

I have a feeling no one would even consider Smart for the 4th pick let alone the 9th pick. Dude, this game is about putting the ball through a little rim. He's likely quietly disappointing DA's offensive expectations. And now DA's gotta do damage control on the phone lines saying he was just in a slump and parlay BS to other GM's that his shot isn't a disaster, steering the conversation to he's only 22, mechanics not broken, dog died, blah blah blah. DA's got some good skills so I trust he could sorta get something in return. But know this. If he shoots 25-30% again at the same volume of shots he hoisted last year, DA wont be able to save his value period. He'll be cooked as a guy who could be seen as a starter in this league. So if someone is offering the 4th pick or 6th this year, you take it and run. But that's not happening.

Ryan Bernardoni @dangercart
Trying to define draft hits and busts by formula is an interesting problem, but I think it went ok: http://i.imgur.com/nffb6tv.png

Ryan Bernardoni @dangercart
Common "bust" characteristics: old, crazy, unlucky (injured), Euros who never came to the US

Ryan Bernardoni @dangercart
Common "hit" characteristics: young, good performance w/ bad athletic testing, ahead of market (early Euros and high schoolers)

I'm keeping Smart. The object of the exercise is to win games, not to put up gaudy offensive numbers. I can show you 10 guys on under .500 teams who did that.

That was me. Draft Dunn, Murray or Hield at 3. Trade Smart and 16 to Scato for 8. Draft Chriss at 8. I think it makes the Celtics a better team. Just my opinion.

Smart just has to become a league average shooter. He does that, worth weight in gold. He is a better shooter than his numbers IMO.

Maybe but there are things I thought he would be able to do but have not translated. Getting to the rack and finishing and drawing fouls. If he doesn't improve a decent amount it neuters his ceiling to a good role player.

My top 2 options would be drafting Hield, or moving the pick in a deal that'll bring in Paul George. Nothing else really intrigues me as much as those 2 options...
