Spanoulis has much fresher, quicker, and more explosive legs than guys like 37-40 year old Andre Miller, 37-40 year old Jason Kidd, Pablo Prigioni, Jose Calderon, and Marcelo Huertas have. Spanoulis could run circles around someone like Jose Calderon.

All of the above players were NBA rotation players, even the 40 year old guys like Miller and Kidd, who at that age were about half as quick as Spanoulis is right now, and that's being extremely generous to the old versions of Miller and Kidd.

There is nothing at all about Spanoulis' legs that would prevent him from playing in the NBA. 40 year old guys that could barely jog up and down the court have been rotation point guards in the NBA in recent years (Kidd and Miller).

Spanoulis shot 37% from the field and 26% from 3PT in Euroleague, he wouldn't be running circles around anyone in the NBA. The guy is just complete trash.

At least every time he brings up Spanoulis he somehow gets banned, I approve this to continue.

Jasikevicius sucks too. Juan Carlos Navarro was a poor mans Lynn Greer.

Americans should stop judging Spanoulis or any other player of Euroleague without even watching him do the things he does in Euroleague first.
Stats doesn't mean **** in this league. When the game is going into the clutch Spanoulis is 99% the best player in Euroleague's history and nobody can really doubt that in this region atm. I mean by now u get surpriced when he misses a buzzer beater. Its that common. Every opponent makes special plans just to stop his game for years.

His failed attempt at circus called Houston Rockets doesnt mean anything. They are the biggest talent graveyard ffs. It wasnt what he was expected, the team was garbage, the circumstances were ridiculous and it didn't work out. He had an offer fron the Spurs later to come and play behind his close friend T.Parker but he rejected it and came back to Europe and became a living Legend..

He is now by far the biggest star here and has no intention of going to NBA again anyway especially since he made a big familly the last few years and its hard to move in another continent with 4 kids.
Stop interacting with Mirotic who I think is Euroleague in the other forum and has a ongoing thing with Millbuck there about the same subjects over and over again.
Its funny there because its a troll forum in its heart but here it's not.

If you dont watch euroleague or other european championships simply dont comment on them. Its like a strictly euroleague fan coming on here and talk **** about Jordan or Kareem Abdul-Jabbar etc...

Its different game both inside the court and outside of it. The arenas here can be a war zone. Spanoulis is the most hated person at OAKA(Panathinaikos home arena) with ppl constantly threatening him and his wife's life while at any moment could throw bottles or rocks or fire rockets on his head. Last season after the end of the game Panathinaikos president went to his locker room and threatened his kids in front of the cameras just because Olympiakos won the game. He went there twice this year with 20k thousand pao fans wishing him dead and was hitting a clutch shot after another like he was in the practice room.

Could Durant or Westbrook play the same ball in these circumstances? We will never know.
Could Spanoulis really lead a team to greatness in NBA basketball? We will never know.
Thats life.

The point is that Euroleague has major talent on its pool and NBA recognise it much more the last few years. Some players can't make the leap at once or ever but thats logical. The same is happening with americans coming to Europe. Most of time they can suck in their first year but after they get used to the different society and reality if they are really talented the will perform and in time will also improve their skill.

Spanoulis or Diamantidis and other euroleague legends dont really need NBA to prove their greatness. They ve done it all in Euroleague and the Greek Championship with their teams. They also had major success with the National team. When they played against USA in the world cup and made fun of Lebron, Wade, C Antony, C Paul, Bosch etc the american commentator said at a point that they are maybe unknown players to the american fans but in reality they are all accomplished players in europe which is a serious place of basketball like USA and not a joke like the leagues in China etc and that they should not be underestimated ever..

Probably should pass on a guy who peaked at nonathletic version of Monta Ellis.

You will learn my young padawan, you learn....There are a warehouses full of servers holding such treasures of pointless debates about players that have nothing to do nor will ever have anything to do with the bucks. Never ending pages of heated debates of hypothetical trades that will never be close to even being considered. Oh so much to see.

Indeed so the only thing we can do is to clear things up and say that Mirotic, Millbuck and everybody else that starts a similar debate are just trolling on Giannis thread and don't mean most of the **** they say. If they don't troll like Mirotic then in this occasion they are just rude to more than half of greek giannis funs, like me, who happen to support Spanoulis's team and talk **** about a beloved player in Greece and Europe in general just to feed a troll like Mirotic/Euroleague who I think he isn't even greek at all...

The Latvian rookie sensation had also some interesting things to say about his hosts, Giannis and Thanasis Antetokounmpo. “What Giannis is doing on the basketball court is unbelievable. Those long steps, Euro-steps, I don’t that there’s anybody who can do those moves that well that he is doing it. His lenght and athleticism all together, he is pretty much unstoppable. He is getting better every year so it’s pretty scary”. As for his former teammate in the Knicks, Thanasis, and if he can be an established player in the NBA, he added: “I believe so. I believe that what will establish Thanasis in the NBA is his work ethic. He is an unbelievable worker. He doesn’t stop working ever. And that’s what’s going to take him to the next level and keep him there”. 3 days ago – via EuroHoops.net

1. The Greek Coach chucked against Spain
2. Pau rocked (Not only against Greece)
3. Spanoulis is one of the best guards to ever play this game on an european Court
4. Spanoulis won't fit to any NBA Team as he needs the ball all the time. He is not a role player
5. He is done with the NBA. He will never leave Greece. He decided to become a legend for Olympiacos
6. Talent wise he is more than good enough to play in the NBA. Just won't fit with his Kind of play. He is a leader not a bench guy. Of course not a leader in the NBA but there are only less players in the NBA that are
7. At this age he would never come

There are a lot of players who are perfect on Euro Level just not for the NBA. Spanoulis is one of the besides navarro diamantidis and you could even put Kirilenko in this category.

The loss against Spain was clearly poor coaching. We had a roster of 10 good Players against one Pau and some out of form / injured guys like Fernandez Llull and so on.
Coach did not try to attack Pau to Foul him out or even try to fatiguee him.
Spanoulis was our best Player against Croatia and during the tournament. He lead the Team.

Giannis will lead the Team from now on.

Our time will Come. We have in Giannis a Player that will dominate the european Courts for years. Poor opponents :D

Some Greek fans are so obnoxious they make me wish Giannis never sets foot in an NT game ever again.

Oh c'mon. The notion that any of these Euro guys "choose" to leave the NBA and their fancy, guaranteed multi-million dollar contracts because they have so much national pride is hilarious.

Spanoulis hasn't come back to the NBA for the same reason that Kristaps Porzingis isn't gonna leave an all-but-certain $140 million extension on the table and play for the Latvian Basketball League next year. One guy is good enough to have a decade-plus long career and earn millions, and the other guy would be playing in Summer League for a roster spot...

It's not an insult to say that Spanoulis couldn't and won't cut it in the NBA (lots of international guys don't). It's just reality.
