eagereyez wrote:Why trade Noel for a 1 year rental of Teague? 29 year old Teague isn't going to stick around on a 10 win team and babysit the rookies. He is going to move on after his deal is up and sign with a contender. If no one wants to give up anything of value for Noel, then trade him to TOR for the #9 pick and draft Wade Baldwin. At least get a guy who won't bounce after 1 year.

Unless it's a smokescreen:

They probably want to keep Okafor because of how advanced he is offensively. Embiid must be looking good. They also don't want to overpay for Dunn. We'll probably grab a few middle of the road vets and try to make a push for the playoffs. Hopefully the Kings blow and we can draft one of the top PG prospects in next years draft.

Colangelo also probably has no interest in re-signing Noel at the end of next year.

This is all in the event that this trade is a real thing. He could be setting the value of a Noel trade and letting others throw their hat in the ring.

Teague is going to be 28 in a week, I'm assuming he's a placeholder? At least go after Schroeder, he's 22.

Deal isn't imminent per Charnia, but it was still worth ranting anyway.

Like wtf am I reading??? Noel is a 15 to 20 mill per year type player????? Wtf? He was a non starter on a 10 win team. Think about that. Averages something like 9ppg and 8rpg off top of my head. Teague is an all star.. is he amazing? No, but hes a better bball player than noel, and thats a fact

This seems to be a case of ATL needs someone to take Teague so they can give the lead job to Schroder, PHI needs someone to give them value for a big.

If the Sixers trade for Teague, Teague would then have more contract negotiating leverage than he currently has in Atlanta. Atlanta already has a fall back plan at PG without Teague. You don't trade away a Noel to just let Teague walk in free agency so Teague would be able to probably get out of Sixers something like $15M+ especially with the increased cap and already huge salary cap space due to lack of a superstar player on the team.

This deal was discussed last year at the trade deadline right? Wonder if Noel was at the heart of those talks too...

Then you must ask yourself, why would Atlanta be willing to make the deal.

When the Sixers are ready to make a big jump, Noel will be the better and more valuable player, and Teague will be on the wrong side of 30.

Bad trade, but only because he is a unrestricted FA. I dont have problems with his age

Im not surprised, BC loves "veteran" PG. In my opinion a surprise is a player like Dunn, not a trade for Teague.

This trade would just show that BC is truly a young member of the "old guard"

KrazySixersD wrote:Teague played off the ball plenty with schroeder. I dont think this deal is bad at all as long as we arent giving up high picks. Teague is a good shooter and scorer, turning 28 is far from old. We are done tanking so get out of that mindset. We need good players now. Getting an established player like teague could help with FAs as well. Noel has no future with emboid simmons and okafor on this team and even saric

The problem is that Teague can leave after 1 season and we can't stop him. At least if he was an RFA we could match any offer.

The most likely outcome is that he walks to a contender and we are left with nothing.

Cmon man........Teague is 28 and in the last year of his deal. He wouldn't resign here... and by the time we are ready to cpmpete he will be declinging even if he did....

The UFA wrinkle is definitely the worst part. A one year rental for Noel is not a great deal. Are we going to have to max this guy out?

Noel has probably proven more than Schroeder has and they're both about to get extended. Sixers need to deal somebody as well to give a lead job to somebody else, same excuse...

On the plus side... way better than that Rose rumor I heard earlier today on Mikey Miss. It was funny hearing Bodner hold back on how dumb that deal would be

This is exactly the kind of deals that BC is known for. No thought process, no strategy. Just reaching for the best record for this year without looking to the future. Teague is a nice player but - 1) not more than that. 2) You're giving Noel up for possibly one season of Teague helping us getting a lesser pick. Great.
