Piston All-Time Fantasy League - Playoff Central

Post#1 » by Laimbeer » Thu Jun 2, 2016 4:34 pm

This OP thread will contain a link to each matchup, as they are launched. As stated at the very beginning of the project, teams will be matched up 1 v. 8, 2 v. 7, etc. Here are the brackets,in the order the first round will be played...

Lionlifer (1) vs. Han Solo (8) http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1450295
Warspite (4) vs. Timmaytime (5) http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1450471

Snakebites (2) vs. RexRyan (7) http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1450475
Pharaoh (3) vs. Laimbeer (6) http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1450477

Participants should plan on posting a run down on their teams and how they'd defeat their opponent (maximum 500 words) at the outset of each game thread. It's also advisable to include a depth chart and possibly minutes distribution. Here's a partial example..

PG: Mike Conley Jr. (37)/ Josh Richardson (11)
SG: Kobe Bryant (36)/ Josh Richardson (6)/Trevor Ariza (6)
SF: Shane Battier (28)/ Trevor Ariza (20)
PF: Chris Bosh (33)/ PJ Brown (10)/ Shane Battier (5)
C: Marc Gasol (33)/ PJ Brown (15)

I would like to start by reminding everyone of my team's defensive prowess. In the last round, against Jory's great defensive team, there was the feeling of a very narrow victory for Timmaytime ("Timmaytime in 7", "tough decision", and "back and forth" were all used to describe that series), and I got the sense that Timmaytime got the win because Jory's team only just couldn't muster up enough offense. I feel that my team is just as good as Jory's defensively across the board, and that we do have enough offense, the foundation of which is the best scorer in this series (Kobe Bryant)...

No voting or comments in the matchup threads before both participants have posted their initial run down.

As a compromise to the ideas raised in the discussion thread, the six other participants will serve as judges. In the case of a tie, I am arranging for someone to serve as the tie breaker(I've contacted them, please don't go looking for someone.) I'd like to wait for a matchup to conclude before launching another, but we'll see how the pace goes. (Happy to report theBigLip has agreed to be our tiebreaker).

Our first matchup is live, Lionlifer and Han Solo.

First game starting off slow, let's kick it up a notch and get all the first round games out there.

Can non-participants post in the threads? I figure it would be interesting to see other posters takes on how they think each matchup would play out, but I think it might be better served until after the judges have voted so as to not influence their decisions.

I think the judges will pretty make up their own minds. Go for it, the more the merrier.

Methinks some people not looking at entire rotations in the match ups.

There's much to be said about having quality role players that can weaken the impact of the opponent's difference maker...

And no I'm just referring to my match up.

Guys like Hunter, Curry, James, Mills, Vinnie, Long, Carr, Tay, Ratliff, Laettner, Cliffy, JYD, Corliss etc are essential to any successful team.
