Re: Jeff Teague for Nerlens Noel discussed, not imminent
Noel is the perfect high energy big to come off the bench and impact games without the ball..we dont need nerlens to score, we need him to be a spark plug like a lou williams type but without needing the ball. Majority of teams in the league dont need their centers to score.
What we need is to not undersell our stock for guys who often wouldnt even finish games late because he was benched for someone at the same position. Jeff teague = mediocre at position where there is plenty of premium options.

Re: Jeff Teague for Nerlens Noel discussed, not imminent
The important thing here is that the risk of racing to the middle was very much lessened by winning the lottery.
We already HAVE(counting Simmons) the core players that are hard to find once you reach the middle.
So there is no artificial cap on our potential.
Plus with the Kings swap and the Lakers pick we don't need to be horrible next year to get a good pick or picks.
The only risk in a deal like this(assuming that Teague signs with us for reasonable money) is losing out on a better potential deal somewhere else.
Noel can't play the 4, and is behind Embiid. This is not a big loss, especially if it means that we are going to give it a shot with Okafor.
I would much rather do this deal than trade Okafor for Dunn or Murray.

Every time I see there is a new tweet, I'm dreading its the inevitable Woj bomb.

So far there is only one report, and a bunch of parroting of it. Maybe Pompey talked to the same guy too.
This could all be smoke like the Okafor to Boston talk.
Let's not freak until something happens.
Covington and Noel for a year's service of Jeff Teague is non sensical. That CAN'T be the deal.

I don't want to trade Noel and risk having Teague walk after one year. Even if he'd sign an extension, he'd want that max deal that pays $30 MM/yr. **** that! I'd rather trade for Brandon Knight at $14 MM/yr signed for four more years. I don't want to spend max dollars for any player unless he is clearly top 10 at his position. Teague is borderline.
I will say this. Teague is in his prime and we would be paying for his five best years. He does play a style that fits Brett Brown and he would definitely be a good influence on our bigs and a good pairing with Simmons or Ingram. Schroeder is my preferred target in ATL.

“This may be one of the best jobs in basketball right now,” Colangelo said at a press conference introducing him as the new GM of the 76ers after Sam Hinkie resigned.

1) Will Nerlens accept being a high energy big coming off the bench and the commensurate salary that goes along with that?
2) If there is plenty of premium options at PG, who are they and how do you propose to acquire them?

resigning Noel next year will not hurt his trade value one bit. we have two top ten picks in a loaded pg draft. Lin gives us about as much as teague at less money and dont need to trade noel

BC should be fired on the spot if this deal goes through. I won't be surprised if he throws in a future first on top of Noel

If Noel is a high energy big coming off the bench, that certainly hurts his trade value. That means he's not a starter. Very few reserves get extremely lucrative contracts. If Nerlens is fine coming off the bench and accepts the commensurate salary for that position, I'd love it. He would be great backing up Okafor and Embiid.
Teague is not a top tier PG, but Lin is also not on Teague's level. I'm fine with signing Lin as a placeholder and keeping Noel, but Lin is not a premium option at PG.

No it was not. Plenty of superstars get stuck in mediocrity and having a wealth of future assets does not somehow make squandering one now somehow okay or not to be worried about. Great potential can go to garbage in a millisecond, it has happened here before and a few years later you are trading Simmons for Jeff Hornacek, Andrew Lang and Tim Perry. Don't anyone kid yourselves that a bad GM can't screw up the first pick in the draft and a seeming wealth of riches everywhere else. 1986 people, look it up.

We are not even sure if Embiid can actually play. How can you say Noel is behind Biid?

I do think this is to try and get Boston (maybe other teams too?) to increase the value for Okafor but if BC is deadset keen on trading Noel then what do you think about trading him to Minny for Rubio? Rubio & Okafor together would be really good I would think and Minny can pick Dunn at 5 with Towns being the 4 and Noel the 5... thoughts?
I like Rubio and his contract is decent at around $14M/yr for the next 3 years considering the upcoming huge increase in salary cap, but he just can't shoot the 3 pointer. I don't think he'll ever be a good shooter so he's not a good fit with Simmons.
If the Wolves would take Noel plus minor assets (e.g. #24, #26, Stauskas, etc.) for #5 so we could take Dunn I'd be all over that.
Yeah I figured he would need to be able to shoot, just if BC is trying to trade for an "established" PG then out of the viable options for a trade for Noel Rubio would be a better choice than Teague

I'm really hoping it's just a conversation. Can we at least wait until the Finals are over before making the move? Who knows, LeBron could have a meltdown on the court with Kyrie. I'm just saying, settling on a Jeff Teague trade is unacceptable. I'd rather go into next season with Okafor, Embiid, Noel, and Simmons.

Attempting to come to in peace, but Teague could very well re-up in Philly. Not many teams will be looking for PG's after next year that can give him a starting gig, enough money, and potential to compete. If BC is making this move, he must believe Embiid will be fine, and is willing to keep Teague beyond next year.
I highly doubt Teague will need the max to stay. If it makes you feel better, you can keep Covington because I don't think he is that special of a player. Even coming off the bench.

Noel off the bench is prob seeing as much mins as he would as a starter in year 1&2. I think its fair to say embiid is going to be on a mins restriction for most if not all of the season.
