With the 40th pick in the 90's to Now Fantasy Draft, ChicagoSportsFan21 selects...

Spoiler:
Chauncey Billups-PG

Image

With Plan A of Pierce being taken, I needed to adjust and go to Plan B. My teams needs a true floor general who can control the game..so who better than Mr. Big Shot in Chauncey Billups! Billups is going to be a great leader for my team. He will make the right plays whether it's to shoot a 3 pointer (good 3 point shooter I might add) or make the right pass to either Dirk or Deke. He's also good at not turning the ball over and getting to the line where he is an excellent free throw shooter. Billups is also an excellent defender that can cause problems for the opposing PGs. He's also clutch too hence his nickname. He will be a great fit alongside my dynamic frontcourt of Dirk/Deke.

Still awake so here we go. I'm torn with this pick as there are a few different directions I would like to take but have to choose one. A lot of great wing players have gone recently and I feel like I need to add to that. With Duncan and Manu on board, I want to add a dynamic scorer. Someone who at his peak was an absolute monster and one of my favorite players and one who will be able to more than hold his own against anyone. Let me get:

I'll take Terry Porter!

Super efficient offensive guard, solid defensively.

Low FGA.

Mark Price, PG, 1991-92, 12.5 FGA/G

- Mark Price + Durability - Handchecking = Steve Nash with a little more D
- Wanted Terry Porter here - apparently I'm destined never to have him
- Too many Heat players so far - need another Cav

I'm not 100% sure about this pick. Would have liked more time to think on it but I don't want to hold up the draft any longer so here goes nothing.

This guy is a perfect fit next to Hakeem.

- Defense
- Athleticism
- Shooting
- Length
- Size
- Interchangable at PF/C
- Can protect the rim and hit the 3
- Nasty post game

Need someone with a high basketball IQ that is automatic with the elbow jumper, stretches the floor with elite passing, rebounds and d's up at a decent level. With the added benefit that he has proven to be lethal in the triangle next to an elite offensive player.

6x NBA All-Star
2x NBA Champ
1x Rookie of the Year

With this pick I want to complete my perimeter defense nightmare, he also needs to spread the floor for Jordan and be able to knock down open threes.

8x All-Defense
3x NBA Champ
1x Karate Master

Chris Bosh

Not sure about the year yet but the general skillset makes sense with LeBron and Zo.

The first pick that I'm not really excited about TBH.

I want a flamethrower on offense who can hold his own in the defensive end. A guy who comes up big when most needed in clutch situations while keeping the ball in my Point God's hands.

Give me

So many players I want at this spot. Anyway, I was looking for the right front-court mate for Duncan. I wanted a defensive specialist but also someone who's not a liability on offense. My pick is:

Image

Marcus Camby

I think he's a perfect complement to Duncan and between Camby and Duncan, I have 2 of best defenders in the game in my front-court.

I'll take Shawn Marion after an admittedly difficult selection process

Image

.594 TS%, 1-4 positional defender, athletic finisher and rebounder who is one of the smartest cutters. Great fit offensively next to Dwight Howard when playing the 4. Great fit for Magic both offensively and defensively. An offball superstar.

So yea even with better players on the board this is a fit pick. I'm expecting fit and matchups to be a big determining factor in playoff series so I had to go with Marion.

So I wake up to a PM from PMOTT3 asking him to make his pick for him. And it's literally the guy I was going to pick with the very next pick. :( He selects Andrei Kirilenko. PMOTT3 loves this guy's ability to contribute in all facets of the game. A rare 5x5 threat every night.

'92 Horace Grant

Deadly from mid-range, excellent defensively and a willing passer.

2nd highest ORTG of this era at 132, and nasty as a 3rd/4th option which is what he'll be here.

Also, according to B-Ref, his nickname is "The General", so he fits nicely next to the Admiral.

Lights! Camera! ACTION!

The Brain-Dead Kennedys select Mark Jackson (year TBD).

Elite defensive PG who loved to push tempo and was a passing and playmaking savant on precious few shot attempts.
