Re: Jeff Teague for Nerlens Noel discussed, not imminent
If it's just straight up Noel for Teague, it's a bad deal.
A pick from the Hawks as an extra would be interesting, because if Horford leaves, they won't be that good (still play-off, but probably around 16-20). In a strong draft, that could be a very nice asset.

It's not really a surprise he's trading Noel. At Toronto he showed an affinity for iso scorers such as Bargs and Gay who offer nothing more at the expense of guys who can play defence.
Unsurprisingly, when Ujiri came on board and offloaded said liabilities, the team prospered.
I can forgive us fans being so reliant on PPG but when a highly paid professional falls for it, its just a bit sad really. I'd be more dissapointed if it weren't so damn predictable.

I think Noel has more trade value (or interest) around the league.
And tbh, I rather have Okafor as a back-up for Embiid (if his career is over, what still can be a reality) than Noel.
Think Okafor can also be a nice combo with Simmons, Noel and Simmons will give a lot of spacing problems.

I like this deal and don't care if it ends up as a 1 yr rental.
Teague is exactly the type of player Philly needs to compliment their young bigs, both as a player and a mentor.
His contract helps Philly get closer to the 90% min of cap they need to be at. ( pity his contract is only 8mill, more would help )
Gives Philly a stronger possibility of making next seasons playoffs.
If he leaves then you have alot of money to throw at whoever , or you draft a PG of the future.
Personally I want to see Simmons, Embid, Jah and Saric with a decent guard , no more tanking please.

Westbrook & Durant won 21 games together in Westbrook's first year. Our course we are way too young to win games right now. The very next draft OKC got James Harden & then they made the playoffs. I want a shot at landing another superstar in next year's draft, then I'm ready to do whatever it takes.

What was the consensus among you guys on the Hinkie firing?
Personally, I think it sucks and happened at the worst possible time. You're just starting to put the pieces together and hopefully get a healthy Embiid, then Colangelo comes around with a totally different gameplan.
Assuming Colangelo has an actual plan is very generous of you. We hated it, but could have handled it if they had brought in a better replacement. Even Ferry would have been better than this trash heap.
I'm not lying when I say there are at least 4-5 posters here that could do a better job then Colangelo.
I read the most ridiculous article the other day. I believe it was on Philly, com where they were interviewing his father JC and he was asked why he felt the need to reduce the role of Hinkie. JC answered he felt there was a need to have a basketball guy.
He then defined a basketball guy in great depth. Understanding of the game from being around it. Former playing experience etc. Then something absolutely hilarous happened he was asked to define how his son fit the mold. He answered to be honest with new information which I had no idea. He said he played basketball in highschool.
Well. Why didn't we get a crack at the job? I'm a basketball going by that standard. What about you Skates play a little BB in highschool too?

There are reasons I wouldn't do the trade, mostly I think Teague is too old for our core and don't like that he becomes an unrestricted free agent at the end of next year, but this rumor shouldn't be sending anyone off on a 'BC is an idiot who is dead set on destroying the Sixers' rant.
You just outlined the reasons why it is not fair value wise. Teague is probably worth something like a late first.
Impending free agents aren't worth much. Noel is an impending RFA and actually has the potential to grow into a 16-18 million dollar player. Much like Derozan grew into his deal which was an overpay at the time.
Teague ain't getting better. Worse his FA contract is likely to cover his decline phase. Just because we don't have a starting spot in the organization for Noel longterm doesn't mean we have to give him away.
In fact, as I mentioned numerous times just having him here as insurance for Embiid is valuable. It's not valuable enough to keep him if someteam makes a good offer for him but conceivably if Embiid ends up a gimp Noel would be our center, Okafor our pF, and Simmons our SF.
If Teague is the best the league can do I say we keep him. Maybe, in limited minutes he'll rebuild his value by the deadline. If not then he can't cost that much to resign. If this is his value around the league.

This is why your just a fan and Bryan and numerous others are NBA GMs and you are just a fan. In what world is a top 10 NBA PG who is coming into the prime of his career worth a late 1st? Jeff is one of the most complete PG's in the NBA. Does very thing good or very good and is a very talented NBA player.
If I was a Sixers fan, I would be jumping for joy. Lord knows I haven't seen very good PG play since Andre Miller. This is a PG league. PnR, spacing, being able to run an offense, shooting, being able to play off the ball and low turnovers are valued and Jeff does all of those things well or very well. Once again, maybe you just don't watch the Hawks but Teague has been a very good player for us. A big part of the reason we won 60, when the the ECF Final and had a good year this year.
This Hinkle assets mindset is good when you are a team without many but your team has players who could be stars. It's time to finally build around them. Add a PG, get a SG in FA. Build around your assets. Make them bigger assets. You could then be in the market for Butler, George or whoever when they are available. This backwards idea of assets is NBA 2kish at best. One I understand but at this stage, isn't needed.

I am curious to know how Teague isn't getting better. He's gotten better every year? He's not even in his prime yet.

This has the feel of a strategic leak. In other words, teams that want Noel, better start coming with their best offers.
As a Sixer fan, I like Teague a lot. He would bring shooting and top PG play to the table.

Preach it.
Nobody is going to want to come here without a legit PG.
I think people need to understand it's time for progress.

It's not horrendous. You might not like it but its far from horrendous. Noel is what he is and is always going to be what he is. This tanking can't last forever, you have to move on at some point. There are too many bigs and if you can get a legit PG, you do it.

He's going to be 28 in a week (June 10th), that's about when players begin to descend from their primes... 25-27 are generally player's primes, that's typically when they're at their best, productivity wise.

I'm all for trading Noel, but this is a senseless deal. Trading for Schroeder makes some sense, but Teague shouldn't be this expensive. Hard to believe it's even true.

Also, I'd hope that the Sixers wouldn't do this deal until they know Teague would sign an extension, believe I read that July 10th is when they can begin discussions (?). However, if he wasn't going to consider us in the future then why would he begin discussing it now that this has gotten out?

I read that he isn't eligible for an extension if traded until mid-January so cross that justification off the list.

What about if he signs an extension with the Hawks and then they trade him? I'm not familiar with the intricacies, idk.

Re: Jeff Teague for Nerlens Noel discussed, not imminent
If the phx rumor has any legs I'm jumping on the knight and 4th pick for jah trade over this. Knights on a much better deal going forward after Teague gets his raise next season. I wouldn't do anything with noel until we get some clarification on where embiid is health wise. If he plays a full healthy season you let noel test his value around the league. If it's to much for a backup center you try and facilitate a sign and trade to get something in return and find embiids backup at a later point. If embiid has another huge injury he likely is done at that point as the franchise savior and noel slides into the starting center position.
