I can't believe I'm doing this:Irving to Utah - Cavs/Suns/Jazz

Post#1 » by bondom34 » Mon Jun 6, 2016 4:47 am

Simple basis:

Utah trades Hayward for Irving.

Gets the long term PG upgrade and his defensive problems should be helped by having Favors and Gobert behind him. Hood seems pretty ready to take Hayward's spot.

Cleveland trades Irving for Bledsoe.

Just really a better fit at PG to me, a solid defender and better athlete.

Phoenix trades Bledsoe for Hayward.

Phoenix gets a still young wing to go with the core and can draft Dunn to start over Knight.

I think it needs something more to the Cavs but not sure what.

Kyrie is worth more than that. I would trade Kyrie for CP3 and a pick, sign Wade in free agency and trade Love for Melo and a pick. Give LeBron what he wants. Set him up to win 2 out of 4 before he gets old.

Forget contract and age. CP3 is top 3 in the league--still--and better than Kyrie by a pretty wide margin. That's not a good trade for the Clips.

Kyrie's not worth more than CP3, that's not even a debate. I just don't know what to add here.

If you look at Bledsoe every other season he's been in the NBA he's played only 30-40 games total. Not sure why Cleveland would want someone that injury prone.

Clippers won't do that, Wade is not leaving, and the Knicks won't do that.

Jazz could send the Cavs the GSW pick.

Their production is almost equal and Cavs getting Bledsoe who is known as Mini LeBron.

Also I'll point out that Paul couldn't stay healthy until his last two or three seasons in NO.

Bledsoe is a Rich Paul guy, LeBron would probably get on board... but if they move Kyrie Bron will want CP3 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

Might I suggest...

Hayward and Teague to the Clippers
CP3 to Cleveland
Kyrie and 21 to Utah
Exum and 2018 CLE 2nd to Atlanta

Utah is overpaying, swap out Exum for #12 and the GSW 1st.

Perceived value maybe. Overall play, no.

The Cavs are getting CP for Irving and a 2nd, that's too easy.

Not that Kyrie is the best fit but I feel like Bledsoe is an even worse fit for the Cavs. Bledsoe without the ball drastically limits his effectiveness.

If LeBron is going to pretty much run point I think the Cavs would be better off with a George Hill/Avery Bradley type than Bledsoe.

Why do people keep saying this?

Can you name a better package a team could and would put together for a one year rental of CP3?

If CP3 tells Doc Rivers he isnt signing in LA after his deal is up, the most the Clippers would get is a decent young player and a pick unless Philly or Boston decides to cash in all their assets for a rental which could but probably would not happen

All Chris Paul has to do is come out and request a trade to Cleveland and his trade value plummets to zero

Clippers have absolutely no leverage in any CP3 trade, they would be incredibly fortunate to land an instant all star PG replacement for Chris Paul

They could try to go after Westbrook after Paul walks but who says he will sign with the Clippers

Without Paul, who says Blake stays?

CP3 is a much better player but Kyrie's contract situation and Paul's age make this trade great for both teams

You're assuming there's a single reason to trade him.

Only reason is to get younger, I doubt he's going to be an Iron man like Stockton was.

He shows no signs of decline and just had his possibly best season.

I think if Kyrie wasn't coming off his worst and least healthy season since his rookie year this may be a different discussion but at their current levels I wouldn't touch this if I was the Clippers. Clippers + productive bench = potential title contenders.
