Re: 2016 draft thread: Part 2
I like his versatility. He should be able to contribute even if he's having a bad scoring night, which is what I love about Towns and Rubio.
But his shot needs major work, maybe even a complete rebuild. There doesn't seem to be much consistency, he's off balance and not square almost every shot I saw.

I don't understand why you are discussing all this.
Draft will go:
1. PHI Simmons
2. LAL Ingram
3. BOS Dunn -> traded to PHI for Okafor
4. PHX Bender
5. MIN Hield
Better discuss what additional moves should we do after we draft Hield

Juan Hernangomez. 10/10 3PT. It's a spanish PF who has high IQ and good shot.
Mocks Draft: DE, 25#. NBADraft, 46#. CBS, 29#

I'd be very happy with that and it makes a lot of sense for all the teams.

It's not set in stone, but I think it's the most likely outcome for those first 5 spots too.

Looks like Thibs type bigman. I really want to see us drafting/trading for raw talent and then developing into solid players.

Hernangomez would be a good option for that high 2nd rounder we don't have thx to Kahn-san.

Seems like a safe bet that Bender, Dunn, or Murray will be the pick

Re: 2016 draft thread: Part 2
Okay, rumors that Dunn, Murray, and Bender are all in play for the #5. I'm assuming we'll here similar things about Hield and Chriss in the coming weeks.
The more I think about it. I really hope we get to roll the dice on Bender. He's a huge risk. People say he's similar risk to Porzingis but he's a lot riskier. Porzingis played 20-25 minutes a night with heavy usage for a ACB team. I watched 10-15 games of his and was convinced he was the #2 guy in this draft. Bender barely plays with low usage in a less competitive domestic league.
But people have to remember that Porzinigs was a year older last year than Bender is now. Bender was 17 at the start of the season. If in the US, he'd be a high school senior. If, big if, Bender becomes what some project, he's such a perfect fit. If Thibs like him, we have to try and get him I think despite the risk of him never playing regularly at a high level.

Good luck on your attempt to see them...

At least we're not drafting this year to find our star. I believe most of the players in this draft can fit in with the current core. Murray and Hield would help us stretch the floor, Bender is the perfect fit if he develops, and Dunn looks like the prototypical Thibs player

Interesting that Murray is defensive minded enough. Am I missing something?

Murray is defensive minded, he just doesn't have the tools. I think Hield can be at least serviceable on that end as well, so I'm not sure why he wouldn't be considered.

There is so much smoke and mirrors right now, that 100% of what we hear is B.S.
Wolves like Bender?
Wolves like Dunn?
Murray a real possibility for Wolves?
Hield not defensive minded enough?
Sounds like Hield is the pick to me.

I think the number of "smokescreens" is overblown. Don't think they're that common.

That's why I'm rooting for a trade down for 2 firsts. There's no strong consensus in ranking; makes me think there's a great chance guys in the teens are as good as the guy in the mid lotto. The guys that go mid lotto will go there only because you have to pick somebody, more than because they're clearly more deserving. Also, our young team will be coming up for extensions around the same time, but we owe 4 picks in the next 4 drafts - wouldn't mind having an extra quality player on a cheap rookie contract to help w/ depth. And speaking of depth - the starting lineup is fine, it's the bench that needs help. Grab a bigman and a shooter and turn the bench around.
