Our GM isn't even in the western hemisphere right now.
Ok. With the draft in like 16 days or something I figured you guys would at least take a look at him. Although you guys seemed pretty locked in on Ben.

Colangelo said he would like to bring both Ingram and Simmons in for a private workout.

Better take him to an all you can eat buffet...he's very skilled, but makes Shawn Bradley look "swollen".

Very interesting to hear that Simmons took "significantly" less money to sign with Nike instead of Adidas.
Also, once Philadelphia and LA were locked into the #1 and #2 spots, both deals jumped upwards of 5 million.

Just read an article about that as well, was interesting reading about Nike partnering with NBA. Here's excerpt
Nike also touted its upcoming NBA partnership that begins in 2017 and will allow the brand to include players in uniform in its advertising.
So, Nike will be able to advertise players in their jerseys, deal could be very good for the Sixers' brand as well.

Man, Im watching the replay of the Iverson interview/doc on NBA TV. I still get chills and can recall where I was during a ton of these games.
Excited that we hold the #1 pick...with the talk about major endorsement deals and such, hopefully its the start of something special again for Philadelphia basketball. Its been way too long since we've had it.

Heard Chad Ford on David Locke's interview. Chad Ford said Ingram has a concerning time gaining weight. He sees him as Tayshaun Prince.

Re: Official #1 pick thread: Simmons or Ingram? Merging topics and a Poll
If I'm Lakers, I would offer no.2 and removal of pick protection for Simmons. I stated this before and it looked like majority thinks Simmons is a tier above Ingram.
I don't think Ingram would be ready to contribute much next season, so that pick of theirs would again be at risk. I also think big time FAs like KD (pipedream) or Derozan would be more likely to sign with them if they are playing with Simmons.
Simmons and DLo gives them a more certain future. General sentiment is DLo is still 50-50. Clarkson is more of a 2nd unit type player. Randle doesn't look like a potential star player.
Question is, if they offer us no.2 and removal of protection in 2017, will we accept it?
How about No.2 and DLo for No.1? Thinking there would be to knock down one domino block that can lead to other. Simmons gives them a face for the franchise. They can get secondary&tertiary star via FA or future picks. I do think Lakers is pressured right now to show their fans some progress with Kobe gimmick already done.

Think the Lakers FO are forced to spend money this off season with the impatient fan base. They won't be a PO team, but they will improve a bit if they get some decent perimeter defenders and a rim protector. So basically you are giving up #1 pick for #2 pick and a very minor chance of getting a top 3 pick next year.
Since you're rooting for Ingram I can get it, but personally I think Simmons is a better prospect, so this is a no-go for me.

Re: Official #1 pick thread: Simmons or Ingram? Merging topics and a Poll
Ingram Is more skilled than Prince, but that is a good analogy otherwise.
The Sixers are loving the #1 pick and that #2 probably takes some time to really contribute for a team that owes them a future 1. Can't imagine anyway they move the first overall pick, but it would take a lot. I can't see #2, Russell, and no protection next year being enough to get #1.

The Lakers can try and spend their way out of the basement, but players have to want to go to the Lakers. They needed a big man last year and the best they could come up with was Roy Hibbert. Maybe with Kobe gone players may be more open to playing in LA but who was the last big FA they signed? Shaq?

That's why IMO lakers desperately need Simmons.
I don't see KD or LBJ signing with Lakers because they want to play with DLO, Randle, Clarkson and a raw Ingram. Simmons is the first domino block they need. That is how Lakers work.
If I'm the Lakers, I'll let go of my sentimental value on DLo and Randle. I'll go hard for Simmons, because once I get him, the rest will follow. And even if they start losing, fans won't go mad about the lack of direction.

I like Ingram but two guys I really respect laid into him. This really gives me pause and makes me feel even better about having the #1. Laker fans are saying Duncan is a "Laker hater" but I've never really seen that.

It isn't about value. We tanked for a superstar, and 2 near superstars don't equal 1 real superstar.
We need to take the player with the best chance at superstardom and that is Simmons.
