Cho is all about "sustainable success" ... which means not trading 1st round picks unless it's a move that puts a team "over the top."

As BlackOutBuzz mentions it's cheap salary. It's the least expensive way to add talent as well.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

i wouldn't mind taking a swing on bennett with a 1yr deal with a team option. i actually liked him before the draft. obviously he will be very motivated to make the NBA, could be a no risk good reward move.

however, clifford is the type of coach he needs to avoid... He has to find a good situation (particularly with coaches) for himself and take whatever money they offer.

No idea how teams give relative value to these players, but:

if Lin leaves, #22 to Philly for McConnell + future first... If they trade for Teague, #22 to Philly for Ish Smith

#22 to Brooklyn for Thomas Robinson + future pick... or maybe something for Jarrett Jack

#22 to New Orleans for Luke Babbit (or maybe Ajinca) + future pick

#22 to Milwaukee for Tyler Ennis or Vasquez + future pick

Ish Smith, Thomas Robinson, Vasquez, and almost certainly Jarret Jack (Nets have till draft night to cut him, which they will due to his injury) are all free agents who can sign with whoever they want. So no need to trade a pick for any of them when you can just sign them.

T-Rob is rumored to have interest from the Spurs, so another reason that he opt-ed out. Jarret Jack is still recovering from a serious injury and may not find any interest (the Nets will cut him because if they don't do it by draft day, they'll be on the hook for paying him while he sits out the year and tries to rehab from a serious injury at his age...possibly career ending).

I doubt Philly is going to trade a future first + a player for the Hornet's #22. With the state of the respective teams, their future first is likely to be a lotto pick compared to the #22 in this year's draft. On top of that, they don't really want picks and youth, since they're stocked up to their ears in those assets from the Hinkie tanking days. Colangelo is looking to cash in assets and make something happen, not trade for more potential ones like picks that they won't have room for any way.

He's struggling to be an impact player in the D-League. I'm done with filling out our final 2-3 roster spots with players who don't have any NBA ability.

How much do you guys think Bayless would cost in free agency?

Definitely don't wanna give up our draft pick. Late first round picks are way too valuable. It's the best way to add new talent and it doesn't cost us anything for four years. On top of that they are restricted free agents.

You don't trade late first rounders unless you are using them to add major pieces or you truly won't have minutes for them ever.

Trading away first rounders is a way for your team to get very old, very quickly

We only have one pick at the moment and the strength of this year's draft are the guys slated to go from 15 to 45. I could see us trading a future first for another first in this year's draft or more likely trading back for multiple picks in the 25 to 45 range, but definitely not trading out entirely.

He showed himself to be a decent backup point guard with a reliable 3pt shot last year.

I wouldn't mind signing him if Lin leaves

I don't see anyone we take that late cracking our rotation next year unless it's a backup pg. I think that's a possibility, but we may just go with troy daniels and harrison.

At sg we use daniels some. Lamb plays backup sg and sf. Marv, frank, zeller make up the majority of the pf/c minutes. Along with some minutes for hawes and possibly a FA or jefferson.

I think we may take an NBDL guy this year to help sell tickets in greensboro. Jordan is praying for brice johnson to slip

Bayless raised his value this season and should be in the $5-9 million range depending on the availability of masked supply - Knight, Jrue, Livingston, Jack, Smart, Harris, etc..

And options on the lower end should check salaries a bit. From $3-9 million: Chalmers, Bayless, Livingston and Jack if FA's, Lin, Moore, Jennings, Dellavedova, maybe Sessions and Brooks sneak into the $3 million range.

Wouldn't sleep on Harrison next season. I think he'll be in the rotation. Just a hunch.

Yeah? I was thinking he might be a cap casualty and we just let him go. He turns 22 in October so he's definitely still young.

Harrison's lack of physical tools and at least 1 legit NBA skill make him a long shot. I root for those guys but at the same time I'm rooting for another center, Marvin and Courtney, a backup pg, pick #22, and Daniels' elite NBA skill to remain a Hornet.

It's a shame the Hornets didn't have a D-League team ready this season so that they could have had better tools to mold Harrison's development.

Ideally Dejounte Murray is available at 22 and ETwaun Moore flies under the radar. Both are unlikely, unfortunately.

I just love his size. Prototypical 6'6 SG. Solid work ethic. Maybe it's just the optimistic side of me that wants him to succeed.

What do you guys think about him?

Image

Rim protector, hustle guy, could run the floor, good rebounder. I like him as a basketball player, wouldn't mind to see him plays for this team.
