Favorite play in the NBA?

Post#1 » by the_hobo » Wed Jun 8, 2016 12:18 am

What is your favorite thing to see in the NBA? I've realized that over the years, I enjoyed basketball for different reasons. For instance, when I was a kid I loved seeing Dennis Scott drain 3s. He's my favorite Magic player of all time for that reason.

But when D12 came around, dunks became my favorite thing to see - just dominating kids down low was awesome!

But now, those don't really excite me anymore. I love seeing people getting embarrassed in the paint by some fancy post moves! Maybe that's why Nicholson is my favorite current player.

What do you guys like?
Favorite Magic players of all time:
1. Dennis Scott
2. Andrew Nicholson
3. Anthony "no-neck" Johnson

I love ball movement more than anything, it's so fun to watch. The extra pass that leads to an easy basket either under the rim or an open 3 is amazing to watch.

i love sick passes that lead to pts. PGs like JWill, Jason Kidd, & Chris Paul make me love the game. I loved the 2000 Kings team.

speaking of, what's Adelman up to? He'd be a good assistant coach.

For me, I love when a center in the post hits a back foot cutter for a hoop. Shaquille O'Neal was a whiz at it.

nothing beats a walk off game winner if it's your team you're watching

Probably a good Air Ball. Nothing gets a greater laugh out of me than a true Air Ball and watching the players teammates look at him disgustedly.

A close second is a great long range buzzer beater.

It's all about the mid-range jumper.

I like the chase down block or steal to disrupt a fast break.

Nothing gets my more hyped than a good poster.

That said, I'm also a sucker for smooth footwork in the post. I can watch highlights of that all day.

Magic - buzzer beater. Nothing like it.

basketball in general - used to be monster dunks, now i'll say the intentional super long range bomb (talking 28 feet plus). Not talking half court heaves at the end of the clock, talking about a player like Curry stepping up from 28 feet out and draining it like it's practice.

Agree on both counts.

Magic buzzer beaters are the best, especially in person. I've been lucky to see 2 with my own eyes in the 7 Magic games I've attended, the Jameer 3 vs the Nuggets and the Harris dunk vs the Thunder. Nothing better than seeing and hearing the entire arena explode in celebration after a game-winner.

Those intentional parking lot shots are super fun to watch as well, awesome example was the Curry 38ish footer to beat the Thunder. I mean he pulled up from just outside halfcourt on purpose when he had a time out to use and instead went the length of the court. Absolutely insane shot and he drilled it. Seriously, how many shots have we seen that earns a double BANG from Mike Breen?

Agreed.

But my problem: whereas I love a game-winner shot, my heart is more stable with a 30-pojnt win. There is no glamour with being a dominant. What is the play in that? Crushing opponents is not cool, but it is effective.
