Re: The Best Trade Offer Series: Enes Kanter
If Kanter's offensive skills and defensive skills were reversed, then I could see Dallas trading Matthews for him, but I think the Mavs go with a defensive minded center this off-season. Kanter's skill set would be more useful to a team in need of an offensive center.
Which teams need some post offense, don't have a lot of money invested at center already and could give OKC a 3-and-D wing?

Disclaimer: Trades I post shouldn't make you stressed or angry if you disagree. If you say it's unproductive because it won't happen and we're only allowed to post deals that actually happen, it takes away 99% of trades here and the fun out of the board.

IF and I stress if the Blazers wanted Kanter and were inclined to let Crabbe go we could do a sign and trade using Crabbe for Kanter

What about Ariza? Old, yes, but shot 37% last season and Houston will likely lose Dwight this season (though I'm not sure how much of a better fit Kanter would be for D'Antoni).
Either a straight up Ariza for Kanter swap with Houston covering the difference with capspace or add Brewer to match salaries (and OKC picks up an amusing bench player).

I'd do Kanter for Ariza and Brewer. And if we can't pick up another center, we could use Ibaka at the 5 more and brewer/mcgary could play the 4.
So little more small ball use or call up Dakari Johnson from D-league who I've heard good things about.

Re: The Best Trade Offer Series: Enes Kanter
I really want to see other Wiz fans chime in on what they'd want to take Kanter in a Beal s&t. Doubt they'd do it straight up, but could OKC add something to make it worthwhile? I don't really think they can, but I think the poster is a Wiz fan.
OKC should be happy with a Porter for Kanter swap, which seems more acceptable for Washington... Porter+Gooden? Don't see Washington does that either though. Why not just use their cap space?
Does Washington have rights on Dudley? Cause I think OKC would love a Dudley for Kanter swap starting at 10ish mil? Gortat/Morris feels like an alright version of Adams/Ibaka to me to work with Kanter.
I know that went from amazing to good for OKC.. But it seems like it could work if Washington can sign and trade Dudley, if they don't renounce him they should be able to? And why would they renounce him unless they have a FA ready to sign? Washington striking out in FA might picture running OKC style bigs with Wall/Beal/Porter and hope of Oubre..

Re: The Best Trade Offer Series: Enes Kanter
IF the major premise is to trade him because of his defense and try to win next season then these trades make sense.
If the reason for the trade, as a poster mentioned early in the thread, is to be able to pay Durant, Westbrook, Ibaka, and Adams their money and still field a competent team around then, then some of these multi year contract players, or sign and trade options (Beal) start to make less sense. to S&T for Beal would ultimately feel like replacing one of those 4 with Beal, because they can't pay all 5 big money and have any real depth at all, even in the new cap.
Even Ariza and Brewer are under contract for two more years each. if Westbrook, Durant, Ibaka, and Adams are resigned to market contracts, that'd be 100+ million for 6 guys 2 years from now. even for just the one season that seems unrealistic. Some of these salary dump style trades, while not sexy, should probably get a little more conversation.
What's the best draft pick, or combination of picks, that OKC could get in a salary dump?

The premise would be to get a better roster fit, ie a solid 2 way wing. The purpose is partially monetary and partially b/c there just aren't enough minutes for all the bigs considering the amount of cap they'll be taking up.

A sixers fan in the Jeff Teague thread posted 26th and Covington for Teague. So maybe if the Hawks lose Horford in free agency...
Hawks get:
Enes Kanter
The draft rights to the player taken with the 26th Overall Draft Pick
76ers get:
Jeff Teague
Thunder get:
Robert Covington
Tiago Splitter
Doesn't that cover all of the things you mentioned given Covington's VERY cap friendly contract, Splitter's expiring contract and Philly absorbing some of the salary difference?

Yep, I just don't know why ATL does it

To get Schröder minutes and get a replacement for Horford.

I can think of a few other Horford replacements before Kanter, but hey if they feel that way cool by me!

Maybe instead of the pick, they take Jerami Grant in the DeMarre Carroll/Kent Bazemore role to see if he picks up his career like they did. I just think Paul Millsap is a great front-court partner to maximize Kanter. Wait, as I'm typing this, didn't Utah already try that or am I wrong? If so, did it work?

Just reading this thread over and noticed, there wasn't really any resolution.. Which teams need a center like Kanter, what do they have to offer?

Re: The Best Trade Offer Series: Enes Kanter
I could see the Rockets with D'Antoni coaching and Howard leaving. Maybe the Hawks if Horford leaves. The Bulls since both Noah and Gasol are likely to leave. Charlotte since they alread had the older version of Kanter. The Suns maybe. Portland if they reall were interested in him and weren't just trying to screw over the Thunder. New Orleans while trading Gordon or Evans. Dalls needs players. The Lakers maybe to reach the cap floor.

Just bumping this because I still don't see a good fit for a Kanter deal, but I'm wondering if any deal they could find would provide them with cap relief and a starting small forward?

Re: The Best Trade Offer Series: Enes Kanter
I honestly can't find one at the moment—it's hard to tell until we see how teams gel. Pellies are the only ones with both need and contracts that fit, but taking Asik/Evans back still leaves us without a healthy starting-caliber SF unless you somehow throw in Pondexter. And Evans is an awful fit next to Russ and Dipo.

Re: The Best Trade Offer Series: Enes Kanter
The league is basically full at center. It's why Monroe hasn't been dealt - the only teams interested would want to send an expensive C back to Mil and they've already got two other guys signed long-term. It's why Philly hasn't dealt a center - no one wants to give up major value at other positions for a center.

Ok I'll bite.
Atlanta - Howard
Brooklyn - Lopez
Celtics - Horford
Charlotte - Charlotte might be interested. They seemed to be fine with Al Jefferson and Kanter is a suitable replacement for him. Hawes and Lamb for Kanter works.
Chicago - Lopez.
Cavs - Just have too many no defense bigs all ready.
Dallas - Bogut
Denver - Jokic
Detroit - Drummond
GS - Probably need all the cap they can keep.
Rockets =- Maybe? Terrible pairing with Anderson though. But, if they could get Kanter on the cheap maybe they look? Ariza and Brewer work.
Indy - Turner
Clips - Jordan
Lakers - Moz
Memphis - Gasol
Miami - Whiteside
Minny - Kat
Bucks - Possibly. They might do a Monroe for Kanter swap. Depends on if they want another year and a do over. Seems ripe to add a 3rd team that could ship a SF to OKC.
Pelicans - Maybe. They had used Ryan Anderson to good effect. Kanter for Evans, Ajinca, and Cunningham works.
Knicks - I can't see them looking to shake things up so early.
Orlando - Too many bigs all ready.
Philly - Ditto
Phoenix - Ditto
Portland - Plumlee and Davis probably better.
Spurs - Pau.
Kings - Too many centers all ready.
Toronto - Jonas
Jazz - Gobert
Wiz - Gortat
So, to sum up. I see the following 4 potential deals.
Hawes and Lamb for Kanter
Ariza and Brewer for Kanter
Monroe for Kanter
Kanter for Evans, Ajinca, and Cunningham
Which one is the best? Which would OKC have interest in? Which have I misjudged?
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

I think Ariza and Brewer and something else for Kanter makes sense. But I'm not keen on dumping him just yet. Would like to see if any of the wings step up and see what we have.
