Marquese Chriss won the poll for the seventh spot on Detroit's big board. That's not much of a surprise since he seems to be the guy getting the most hype right now, with Ford even saying the Lakers are considering taking him at two. I think that would be a massive mistake with Boston getting extremely lucky with Ingram being there, but they did surprise a bit last year by taking Russel with the second pick. Anyways, this is still a weird spot for ranking players with Detroit in mind.
Who's your pick for the #8 player on Detroit's big board?
1. Ben Simmons
2. Brandon Ingram
3. Dragan Bender
4. Jamal Murray
5. Kris Dunn
6. Buddy Hield
7. Marquese Chriss
8.
9.
10.

I think folks are going position over BPA a bit too much here. Brown.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Tough decision between Ellenson and Skal for me.

Brown is pretty polarizing. I'm not sure what to make of him. He reminds me a bit of Stanley, but I liked the latter considerably more as a prospect. Winslow even more. Maybe that says something about the quality of this draft class compared to last year since I still have Brown being valued in this range. Whatever the case, he's one of the guys that could have a wide draft range.
Baldwin leading the vote does surprise me though. Seems early for me even if the fit is good.

I voted Baldwin - all of these bigs could pan out, or not (how's Noah Vonleh working out?). All things equal, I'd start taking the better fit for our team, because they're all gambles going forward..... my guess is that Demetrious Jackson goes higher on our board for the same reason, and perhaps someone like Gary Payton Jr. slides into our first round.....

That's the point of this exercise though. All things aren't equal. If the prospects were rated similarly then you obviously go with the best fit. I'm just surprised that some seem to have Baldwin rated on equal ground as a large group of the other guys left on the board.
For what it's worth I'm only running this up until the 20th spot. That's all we have time for, and that one will end the day before or the day of the draft. If Payton sneaks into the top 20 I might have to retire this.

Just for that, I'm voting for Gary Payton Jr. every vote going forward.....

"Make your choice for Detroit's big board based on value, fit, or whatever. Here we go!"
This is what was stated on the original first thread of the series. Is there some untold rule you believe that hasn't been shared with us?

Davis seems like a dime a dozen type of big, Skals soft and has a low bball iq, im a little biased against Brown after the way he did Michigan, and Valentines a little too unathletic for my liking. So I went with Baldwin. Poetl was a close 2nd.

Just saying most here seem to value position over value more than I do.

Well, you got Ellenson.
Perhaps you noticed that Maker was selected 8 picks earlier.
