If Jamal Murray falls to 8th like DX is showing, he'll be the steal of the draft.

Thank Nation! Raps Pick 9th - Draft on June 23rd 8pm (Part 6)

Post#1843 » by Double Helix » Tue Jun 14, 2016 12:58 am

I still find it hilarious how so many of us can simultaneously admit Poeltl is a very intriguing C and possibly BPA and yet also be so completely bored strictly because we have JV here and further along and are tired of how long Cs take to develop. I feel like if I'm brutally honest with myself that's the biggest hang up here. The young 7'1 beast from Austria and Bogut's alma mater was dominant at times this year, posted massive numbers, and has a ton of skill in workouts.

I came to the conclusion today that Poeltl might have the best mix of high floor relative to his position and upside (given all that he had going for himself at the position) for 9. If we were desperate for a C we'd be thrilled to be in a spot to take him so if we are true to BPA (and we should be) then maybe his is the one to go with.

Especially as we get set to lose Biz. Bring down the kid from Austria and let's see what he's made of. Maybe we build the rich man's version of Steven Adams and Enes Kanter in the end. He's as talented as Len ever was. Possibly even as talented as Vucevic is. If nothing else maybe it gives us trade options later.

I honeslty think Biz will be back. From the comments of wanting to stay, Caseys comments of wanting him back, I just think Masai works his magic and gets him back. Not to mention, Masai doesn't let his assets walk for nothing, especially one that saw his stock rise on Masai's team. The African connection is just bonus.

Poeltl is a great prospect but I do not see him on this team next season. The only way I see him being selected at 9 is if we cant trade up and Masai selects him in order to make a trade with a team behind us so we can trade back.

The Toronto Centres. Lol. Maker at 35 is great value. Let's get him at 27.

I think it's been fairly obvious for a while now. Poeltl should not even be there at 9. I don't know if it's the small ball trend, this draft in particular or something I'm missing. However statistically and measurements wise combined with youth and especially the eye test. He really should be able top 5 pick and be going over some of the guys in the top 8.

A team desperate for a center would be ecstatic! He's a talent!

I could see MU trading a re-upped Demar, a re-upped Ross and a player like Ellenson or Poetl for a Blake or Cousins deal. That would be the ever elusive home run swing.

“It went well,” Ainge said by telephone. “I would say there were no real surprises. Buddy Hield is a really good shooter and a hard-working, well-conditioned player. He’s a great kid and a guy that’s ready to step in and play. Very, very, impressive.

“And Marquese Chriss is a young and very athletic player that has a lot of growth still to his game, but he has an enormous upside.”

Ainge what's the drill....Chriss or die trying!!

He was my favorite but I put Furkan because more n more it's not sounding like he's not getting out the top 8, praying for this to Drummond 2.0 but we redeem ourselves n actually draft the right player!

Another underwhelming group. Something's definitely up at 9.

It only just now hit me that Delon Wright was Poetl's point guard last year! I somehow didn't connect those dots until just now. If Delon Wright was scouted comprehensively so too likely was Poeltl. Those 2 could have some chemistry off the bench as well.

It could be the reason that there haven't been too many guys scouted for pick #9.

Right?! I mentioned this in another post and get that we need to fill our d league roster, but the number of mid-to-late 2nd rounders coming in might suggest we are trading down and taking on another pic.

I really hope that we keep the #9 and not trade down...if a trade does happen, I'm hoping it's a move up in the draft board or a 3rd "star"

If Murray is there at 8 give the Kings our 9th & 27th pick for the 8th.

What's funny is that I had lunch with Terrence Ross' agent yesterday. We talked about every possible scenario. Toronto never came up.

HA

Vivek would wet himself if Murray was at their pick. That guy wouldn't even take Val, Lowry and 9 for him.

He's that dumb and way obsessed with Kentucky players.

I think they're also looking at prospect for the summer league and for the dleague team as well. The Raptors have checked out players who are around 9 and they have been apart of a few pro day workouts.
