That Mark Stein trade doesn't work money wise. We would have to dump like $9 million more in salaries.

I am really cooling on the idea of trading for Butler. It will take too much to get him and the Suns suck. They are not close to being a championship team. Why give up the only good pieces you have when you still will not be that much better after the trade. Might as well keep the lottery picks and just continue on what you did last year with Watson. The only teams that are championship contenders realistically are whichever teams Curry, Lebron, and Durant are on. That is the truth. The rest of league is not as good. The guys available in trades are not as good as those three players.

Yeah, I'm not all that high on getting him either. The Celtics are a bit closer to competing and have more assets, and the TWolves are closer to competing and have a motivated ex coach in Thibs which may overpay in a deal. I have a feeling if we somehow end up with him we will give up a huge package.

He is intriguing though. He was extremely consistent the last two years in his #s other than 3 pt shooting (not sure why that dropped...hopefully if we were to get him he reverted back to closer to 2 year ago #s) but his assists have improved every year.

Of course if we get him I'll be excited about having him and couldn't wait to watch the team with him on it though. I still think we'd probably be better served to keep our picks and draft, though if Bender is gone I wouldn't care at all about giving up the 4 in a package. Obviously I'd rather have Butler than Bender but not sure with everyone we'd have to give up if it would be worth it. A bit concerned he would be disgruntled in Phx too after playing on really competitive teams with Thibs and now going to another rookie NBA head coach.

For conversational purposes how much better does Butler make Booker?

We're talking about an elite defender who's averaging 20/5/5. How much better would Booker make Butler?

Is Bledsoe/Booker/Butler a top-3 perimeter in the league?

They want Conley..

But so do Spurs and Conley wants to win and compete it seems.

It's probably up there if Booker continues to get better.

i'd be willing to get into a bidding war with Danny Ainge, but only if he ends up holding the bag.

i would give up a certain amount for Butler, but i don't think Bled, Booker and Butler is enough to compete with the top teams in the conference.

in fact.....i'm not sure how this is going to shape up, but if the Celtics getting Butler is enough to entice Kevin Durant, we should let the Celtics take him. if we don't have to worry about about Durant or Butler, then we don't have to worry as much as about Oklahoma City. This gives us a better chance of getting into the playoffs.

i would give up Booker and our two lottery picks, or Booker, TJ and #13, or Booker, Len and #13. would i give up Bled for Butler? probably not. would i give up Knight? maybe. i still have hope, given that he was hurt most of the year.

i'm souring on the idea of Kevin Love, given the help he's been to the Cavaliers in this series. i think Blake Griffin would be a bigger threat to the Warriors. that degree of athleticism, as it was in the Warriors/Thunder series, could cause them problems.

i think we might go after Love, but i don't think the Cavs will trade him. they don't seem to win or lose because of him.

i also think the Bulls won't trade Butler. they're likely going to lose Pau and Joakim Noah. if they trade Butler, they'll have little to no talent left on the roster. i think it makes more sense to keep your All-Star, just in case you can attract another one later.

how does it benefit them if they trade Butler? they get a guy like Kris Dunn? i believe in Dunn as much as anyone. no matter who they put around him, they're closer with Butler than they are with Dunn. maybe Dunn can become an All-Star, but it's too much of a risk. i highly doubt it.

Chicago would need to get more than Okafor and I'm sure Philly would prefer the 3rd pick to the 4th.

Let me get this right, you'd give up Booker and both lotto picks, but not Knight? Really? Not Bledsoe? Where do you think this team is competitively?

A couple weeks ago I put up something on the trade forum like:

PHX gets Butler
CHI gets Okafor, Knight, #13, #28
PHI gets #4

Chicago fans thought their end was light. So did some Philly fans. Suns fans thought we gave up too much. But that's how fans roll.

to respond to AtheJ and rsavaj: ........i like Knight. i think the fact that he wasn't 100% this year means that we don't know how good he really is. i think his length is intriguing. he was a better shooter than Booker this year.

right now, they're a similar quality player. will Booker be better? uhhhh........maybe. probably.

Knight was definitely a better shooter in Milwaukee. he was more physical, he may have more defensive potential. so......this may be pretty myopic of me, but i value Knight a little ahead of Booker, at this moment.

here's the more important thing: would Knight and Butler be better defensively than Booker and Butler? how long will it take Booker to develop next to Butler? would Butler be at the tail end of his prime by the time Booker is entering is?

i can live with that, but i wonder if defensively, Knight and Butler are actually better together. athletically, too. Book ain't flat footed, but you gotta admit Knight has had his "wow" moments, be they few and far between.

if it were any other trade, i'd probably give up Knight first. in a Love trade, for example? i'd keep Booker.

I think if Bled-Butt are healthy we would have a very very good team. Would like to keep our 13th pick somehow, going as far as possibly giving up Miami 2019 pick plus the 28th. If DraftExpress is true to form, then we'd take Deyonta Davis at 13 and I'd be very thrilled about that.
Back to your original question, I think Bled-Butt would make Booker look very good offensively. His numbers would probably be around the same as Klay Thompson's third year (18.4/3.2/2.1 on 44%FG/40%3FG/85%FT).
Really like the idea of having the triple B perimeter players, but we would need to keep the 13th pick so we can draft a PF.

The word Booker and trade should not be used in the same sentence at all this offseason, period. I don't know what you're smokin President Dantley but I want some.

For Butler i'd offer a package of...
Warren + Knight + #4 + #13 + a future protected 1st

I believe that is the kind of thing Chicago would be looking for in a Butler trade. The rookie contracts are worth gold right now with the cap going up. If they are trading Butler and Rose they are rebuilding and these are the type of assets they would want.

Ok, after reading all the reports on Butler and trade proposal/ideas i have come to a conclusion. Butler has way more value than Okafor, so the idea that Chicago wants something like #3/Bradley/Crowder for Butler makes me question the price for Okafor. If thats Butlers price, than Okafor would be like just the #3 or #4 straight up. From there i started thinking some more about it, and if we could do #4 for Okafor, would packaging Okafor with Knight and the #13 be enough to nab Cousins. I would even be ok with swapping Warren for Gay if it came down to it. Sure, we would remain lite at PF, but you have to admit that that team would draw players interest a lot. Bledsoe/Booker/Gay/??????/Cousins. Hell, maybe we could run Cousins at PF and have him next to Len or Chandler. But for real, if we could get Okafor for #4, you would have to think that Sac might be somewhat interested. A younger (Less troubled) replacement for Cousins. WCS defense at PF could help cover Okafors defensive limitations. A starting PG in Knight. Another lotto pick added to the mix. Dumping Gays large contract for a younger player that has his same skillset but is a little bit more raw.

If that is all we have to give up to get Butler I do that in a heartbeat. Giving up a mid first and late first is no big deal at all. Giving up Knight, let's be honest, who really cares. The only piece that hurts is #4, but you are getting an elite defender who can stretch the floor and put in 20 a game. An absolute no brainer if that was actually ever on the table

If you are Chicago would you rather have Okafor, Bradley, #16, 23 and 31 though? Or throw Smart in instead of Bradley and would Philly hold it up to get 3 if that was the other offer on the table? Or would you rather have a straight up deal for the 5, LaVine and Dieng?

Sacramento has danced around appeasing Cousins for so long, I'm still pretty sure there is no way they will trade him.
