Wait so who's transcendent???
Surely if said player is so transcendent they wouldn't be passed on by 3 other teams?
I would use that term for guys like Towns, ADavis...those calibre of players from recent drafts. I don't see any guys that talented this draft, maybe a handful of All Stars but nobody you'd 'hitch your wagon to' without a shadow of a doubt.
I think he just means draft the best talent, regardless of position. We need to infuse our roster with more talent at the greatest volume as opposed to skipping on a guy just because of what's on your roster. Booker and TJ are probably the most secure players, and Bled, Knight and Len are McD's guys too, but if they think Dunn or Buddy or Murray or Brown or Poeltl is the best talent, they shouldn't let having a guy at that position sway them. Grab the talent, figure it out later. Moves can be made later to even things out.
Though I do believe that we are a better team than last season showed. Bledsoe and Knight both missed significant time and Markieff was sabotaging. Not to mention TJ went down too.
McD did say he's not opposed to taking a guard if he feels they are the best talent on the board and his approach has always been to do that and sort things out later. Not sure he's the best at sorting those things out, but if he's telling the truth, he will take who he feels is BPA which is extremely subjective considering who might be best now is probably not the same person who will be best in 3 years, and might be pretty far down the list in 3 years. I mean rookies of the year Tyreke and Michael Carter Williams are not exactly still lighting up the league.
