im already excited to see his improvements next season.

noone saying let him go for nothing

but the simple matter is, he isn't a max player

and if someone offers him CRAZY money, there are better things to do that tie up cap in an overpaid player for 5 years

if an offer were to come along where we get a piece that are staples of winning championships, you throw him like he's candy

The Lakers can offer him over $30 million more than any other team. What is crazy money?

in my opinion, anything >10-12 mil per, 50% more than lou's deal

and that's because he's only 24 alongside the rising cap

we talking about a career MLE player here

I believe that in the right situation, Jordan Clarkson will be an all star. He is the best and most consistent player on the team. Hopefully we will add a better player or 2 or 3 through the draft or free agency, but right now, he is our best player. Until we get a better player than Clarkson, I will treat Clarkson with the respect that should be given to the best player on your team.

Clarkson's other team max is 4 years 62 mil. Structured 6 + 6 + 25 + 25 similar to the Jeremy Lin Omer Asik poison pill deals that there given to them by HOU. And if some team attached PPP or a trade kicker onto his deal, do you REALLY want to match? Do you want to pay JC 25 mil 3/4 years from now. I sure as hell dont, as i dont feel he moves the needle needed from a max level player.

We already have Lou for instant offense off the bench with zero D, and thus Clarkson is redundent and paying him the max is utter folly. Unless we trade Lou for something or keep Clarkson for something reasonable (my upper mark is 4 years 40 mil), its just not smart to allocate all that money for a back up level guard on a contender.

Now of course JC's **** defense last coupla years could be blamed on Byron. Jeremy Lin for example defensively didnt look good at all in his year with the Lakers and then the next season with the Hornets people be talking about how he's turned into their best wing defensive stopper with MKG out. Lin would get their toughest assignments, check SGs as needed, blah blah. All Lin got switched was to a real coach who actually preached defense and made his players accountable. Now no one can sure as **** tell me the Hornets had anyone inside who cleaned up the wings messes with the almighty frontline of Al Jeff, Spencer Hawes, Cody Zeller, and Marvin Williams.

Maybe Clarkson under a real coach can actually D up, his defense the last 2 years were just horrendous, but mostly due to being young and under the worst coach in the league. The issue is.... do you want to take the risk that his D is due to Byron or is legit bad, personally im not gonna take that risk and i doubt alot of teams will at big money. Now JC can prove the naysayers wrong next year on a cheap 1 year deal and if he does show that under a real coach he can play both ways THEN we can give him big money.

The stench and toxicity of Byron absolutely cannot be understated, goddamn its hard to tell what our young guys are really capable of.

hes a free agent, restricted but still a free agent. I don't think the prospects of getting a team to cough up a nice loot while also convincing Clarkson to go along with it are all that high.

Man, I don't even recall Kobe getting this big this quickly. Never skip leg days JC. Added weight equals added pressure to the lower body. If he maintains his speed, watch out.

Russel bulking up to this degree would be a nightmare at the post, my goodness.

I have no doubts he will remain a Laker.

He's a beast and keep improving each year. I hope he get cap friendly salary next year. Prefer him than Derozan

I wouldn't be opposed to offering him a 3 year 6+6+22 deal. Still a max deal, just shorter. Around 34m for 3 years, around 11m each year, sounds like what his actual value should be in this inflated FA season.

I don't think LAL can offer that type of contract, only match another team's offer (I heard this somewhere recently but I can not remember where). LAL can only make a more traditional offer with up to 7.5% raises per year. Something like 10.75+11.25+12m. I hope some other team does offer him the 3 yr max as I would prefer LAL to match that and keep the cap flexibility this year and next.
