Re: Hornets Draft Board #24
So far in these polls, I've voted for Taurean Prince, Malcolm Brogdon & DeAndre Bembry.
Next, i want:
Gary Payton II
Why? Because a player who can't play defense won't get playing time from Clifford (see: Jeremy Lamb).
Few rankings have GPII, who has terrific size, length, and strength, for a PG, higher than 40, but I think Payton II is a terrific compliment to the guys we currently have at PG. Kevin Pelton at ESPN INSIDER writes that while pal Chad Ford subjectively has GPII at 55, Pelton's WARP ranks Payton II at #9.
Kind of like the MKG of point guards, GPII works either alongside or behind Kemba. If we miraculously retain Lin, defense first GPII is an ideal PG3

Here's an interesting contrast: As a 6-foot-3 point guard, Payton outrebounded Diamond Stone on the defensive glass. In fact, GPII projects as the best defensive rebounder among point guards in my database, and rebounding has generally been a strong indicator for point guards.
Befitting the son of the former Defensive Player of the Year, Payton has the best projected steal rate in the draft and the highest projected block rate for a point guard in my database.

Richardson is starting to get some mid-first buzz, maybe add him next?

Re: Hornets Draft Board #24
Diamond Stone should be long gone by 24-25. Not a fan but he's likely gonna get snagged along with Dejounte well before where mock drafts have them depending somewhat on what Boston and Denver do with their picks.

Good, in that case it means a player better than those two will be more likely available at #22.

Re: Hornets Draft Board #24
I don't know much about this draft (which is why I'm staying out of these threads for the most part) but I've liked what I've heard about Diamond Stone. Is there a reason we shouldn't take him at #22?
