So, with the cap holds of the #20 pick, and just Ian Mahinmi's $7.6m cap hold, (meaning Shayne and GR3 are kept for a bit, and no cap holds on Solo, Jordan Hill, or Ty Lawson - Lawson we can always re-sign later, he has no Bird Rights so cap hold of minimum salary does nothing), the Pacers will have $66.86m on the books, with $27m in salary cap space. Say Mahinmi walks, or we renounce him? $34.7m in cap space at that point.

Means we can afford a max salary for most all players in the NBA without any cap moves whatsoever. A max for Mike Conley or Al Horford starts at around $27m. A max for a Hassan Whiteside starts at around $22m.

2 Max salary offers would require dumping Stuckey and Monta for nothing, and renouncing Mahinmi.

I'd go after Mike Conley as being a more realistic signing for us. IDK what it would take to get him on board, but since Indianapolis is his home town maybe we'd have an edge. We should see if we can move Stuckey for space and then get Ian signed.

Question if we signed Conley do you think there is any chance we can send Stuckey and or Monta to the Grizz in a sign and trade?

Theoretically, we could sign Conley to a max while retaining Mahinmi's Bird Rights and exceed the cap to re sign Ian to any number.

If we did that could we still extend George Hill?

Monta is one of our recruiters. Might not be good to trade him when he's talking us up as a destination.

Everyone has cap room so it won't just be about money. Players will have a voice.

We could extend him, but only at 8.5% raises, not utilizing the signing bonus structure I outplayed in the other thread. To use a signing bonus, you must have cap room to fit it into.

Sorry. Fat fingers on the iPhone. 7.5% raises.

I agree trading Monta now would be a mistake. I think we should explore ways to move Stuckey for space or maybe a 2nd or small contract. If we are going after Mike Conley and I think we would be crazy not to then moving Stuckey makes a bunch of sense. Teams that might want or need him would be Milwaukee, Houston, Memphis, the Nets and the Knicks and maybe New Orleans.

If we signed Conley and traded Stuckey then we might be under the cap enough to extend George Hill and still sign Ian.

I may be wrong but I think if we make the big signing first we can go over the cap on Ian as long as we stay under tax. We may want to think ahead to next summer though.

On trade board a Buck's fan was looking for a shooter and was good with CJ Miles.

I'd love it if we can bring in Courtney Lee.

He's no max level free agent, but I'd consider that a good signing. Elite kind of role players like him are great signings, too.

I'd consider bringing back McBob so that we could bring young guys along slowly.

IDK what he value in terms of contract is with all this money that's gonna be injected into the equation. I'd like him at $4 million or so.

Wizop suggested McBob we should be able to get him for nothing as the Heat are looking to shed salary so they can sign Whiteside.

I'd be happy with all these local guys, it's like Jake and Elwood, "We're getting the band back together!"

With so much money available in the NBA there is no way we can sign Lee for $4M. But indeed, great role player.

I just hope we spend our money wisely, i'd rather have one star for a lot of money then 4 decent roleplayers for the same total amount

Feels like rotation players will get 8 and starters 12 and up.
