Would you trade Tobias Harris for Okafor and Covington??

Post#1 » by sfballa13 » Sun Jun 19, 2016 12:02 am

Okafor's value is so low, why wouldn't SVG at least take a shot at him?

Tobias, Meeks, Bullock
for
Okafor, Covington, Landry

Reggie / -----
KCP / Hilliard
Stanley / Covington
Mook / Landry - #18
Drummond / Okafor

This trade gives us an additional 10M in cap space as well bringing our total to 28M this offseason

i think we could easily get Lin

We'd also have Baynes + #18 + Mook to trade for a PF (like maybe Faried/Gallinari) as well

Okafor makes no sense for us cause you can't play him with Dre and he can't defend the perimeter

He doesn't but if that's the price for him and Covington well make space for him. We would have a constant low post threat and while Okafor is a old school big he is a elite low post scorer which would be awesome to have for the next 3 years on a rookie deal. I'm sure he would be very unhappy with his role here though.

I'd trade Marcus over Harris.

Harris is still young and can pretty much do what Marcus already does on this team, which is get buckets.

In a deal like this I would trade Harris. I value Morris a little bit more because of his ridiculously good contract. I you did this deal we would have Morris, Okafor and Covington making like a combined 10 million

No. Okafor is just not a good fit for this team. I would throw junk and our draft pick to LA for D'Angelo Russell though.

If that's the price I still probably pass on it.

It's not about money - Okafor is a terrible fit here and you can't have him defend anywhere but C...so he's limited to 15-20 minutes a game, which will destroy his value over the next 2 years....unless you think he's gonna be better than Dre?

Covington would fit...

Okafor is a fit that's really similar to Greg Monroe. The value is there but Harris makes sense of this team and Okafor doesn't.

Tobias, Meeks, Bullock
for
Okafor, Covington, Landry

Then Dre to Boston for #3, Smart and a couple of those other good picks (not the whole warchest)

RJ, Smart
KCP, #18 (Valentine), Hilliard
SJ, Covington, #49
#3 (Bender) Mook, Landry
Okafor, Baynes

Not sure how much space we'd have after both deals but:

Got the low post player to run the offense through

If Bender is as good as some say he's the stretch 4/small ball 5 that perfectly compliments Okafor

SJ, Mook, Covington give those 2 great support...

KCP, RJ, Smart, Hilly & Valentine is a nice mix of O & D

BUT...

I wouldn't do it.

We have something already! In the real Year One we made the playoffs and won 44 games.

Any major changes would be weird to me, especially when SVG has spoken about continuity so much

Okafor is overrated, and pretty much as awful a fit with Drummond as you could get.

I like Okafor. He doesn't fit, but Harris isn't the best fit either, so might as well go with the cheaper contract with more trade value and create more cap space for FA.

I think you are incredibly undervaluing Okafors perceived value by the 76ers. The majority of the league might think Okafor won't amount to anything (which I completely disagree with) but in any case, Philly are a bad team and if his value is as low as you say, they would be better off holding onto him as opposed to selling low. Covington is on a great contract this year and I struggle to believe that Okafor won't improve, which at the very least Okafor is already better than Monroe.

If you have been paying attention to the draft there are rumours every couple of days that Boston is considering trading the number 3 pick for Okafor and other assets so why would Philly even consider a package with Harris as the main prize? (#3 pick > Harris)

Neither teams would do it, it doesn't make any sense. Harris still has a lot of potential. If he just becomes more efficient in his all around game, he's got a good shot at being an All Star. He's like a lesser Melo and hard work isn't a problem with him. He's very professional. Okafor though is immature. He needs his own team, he'd be perfect on the Pelicans. I think there's a better chance we get Love instead.

I would rather have Noel but with our current roster i couldn't justify trading Harris for him.
