If could describe Dinwiddie in one word, it'd be "basic".

I suppose that's better than Bairstow, because apparently the word would be "suck".

Look at it more like, we traded a guy we were going to most likely cut for a guy we will cut.

Or:

We did Spencer a solid, which buys us goodwill with his agent

We saved a little bit of money cause this mean Jo-el will be gone so ge can ring chase, buying goodwill with his agent

And we possibly helped us in the Delly sweepstakes OR we created an open roster spot in order to capitalize on all that goodwill

It's not as simple as trading one non-guaranteed deal for another

I only remember Dinwiddie from the game against us where he dominated Derrick Rose. That was actually pretty funny. It seems it was his only good game though. Bairstow never even had a game like that.

Bairstow is a slow, plodding guy that can't jump over a tissue, but has good basketball IQ. His physical restrictions won't allow him much in the NBA, he is more of a D-Leaguer or needs to go to Europe to be succesful.

He probably won't even make the roster

In short: yes. He has games where he has outplayed Derrick Rose and John Wall and demonstrated a decent feel for the game & defense.

I think his confidence and mentality are pretty weak though. The game vs Wall was a thing of beauty; he looked so poised and his decision making was excellent. The talent is there but his lack of confidence just kills him, and his shooting sucks. I wouldn't be shocked to see him be a rotation player on a contender. But then again I also wouldn't be shocked to see him out of the league shortly.

On a side note I like that SVG decided to give him a shot to make it somewhere else. Unlike some GMs who treat players as assets on a piece of paper, cough Daryl Morey cough.

Yeah to me this is a class move by SVG & Bower for Dinwiddie.

We are going to draft a PG and we will want to see what we have. Our new PG is going to play most the minutes at Summer League and that was Dinwiddie last chance to make an impression and make the roster.

Think Chicago got the better of this one because I think Spencer can be a rotational PG somewhere. Chicago is a team in need of one so good luck to him.

This...is a good point. With Spencer basically getting canned due to lack of PT, I can definitely see us drafting a PG or going absolutely hard for a backup PG in FA.

It's pretty much inevitable at this point, unless watching Blake imitate a living NBA player for 20 mins a night is part of Stan's plans for the future.

he also dominated J Wall either the game before chicago or after or sometime during that season. If you give SD a jump shot(which he had in college), he's a viable starting pg and possibly more.
