DX and NBADraft usually put a random prospect to gain viewers and then they drop them down again.

nbadraftnet yeah isn't that great i think usually (though i like their player profiles in terms of rating them, if only for a loose guide, its a easy way to see how the talent is evaluated even if it isn't the most accurate).

Draftexpress is usually pretty accurate (as accurate as you could be for a mock draft). Like nothing usually is completely out there where you are like nah he isn't going that high. So to see Chriss in the top 3 was bizarre.

So explain to me how he's different from Derrick Williams?

Williams played more like David West or Carmelo Anthony - face-up 4/power 3 who shot the ball and attacked guys off the bounce. Same mold as Beasley. Full disclosure - I thought both Williams and Beasley would be offensive stars.

Chriss' face-up game is a lot less central to his game and overall appeal. For one he's a much rangier, bouncier player who sees a lot more time off-ball. Plays pick and roll a lot like Brandan Wright in Dallas - an above the rim lob guy with a quick 2nd jump for tip-ins. Plays pick and pop too - not super-dependent on jab-stepping his way into an offensive rhythm. Defensively he covers a lot more ground, laterally and vertically.

This sounds like a criticism, and it's reflective of how scary he is as a prospect, but I actually mean it as a compliment: Chriss is like a hybrid of the classic tweener busts of the high lotto. Shoots like Marvin Williams and Jeff Green, plays like Stro Swift and Tyrus Thomas

I can't see how Chriss and Murray are worthy of top 10 consideration. If they were that good then Washington would have been a decent team.

It reminds me of the hype train that got going last year for Rashad Vaughn and Christian Wood of crappy UNLV.

Chriss reminds me of Marcus Morris.

Why? Marcus isn't a shot blocker or a particularly good 3 pt shooter and is a decent rebounder (or at least was a lot better rebounder in college).

Shotblocking aside, it's his style of play mainly, except Chriss plays above of the rim more. But, offensively, he does a lot of what Morris does.

in fairness he isn't a low IQ guy like Tyrus either, Thomas coming in was d.u.m.b (Javale McGee and Swaggy P levels of low b-ball IQ).

But he is still a blackhole with tunnel vision and limited feel for the game. Easily loses interior positioning for overcommiting defensively/ going after ill advised offensive boards giving up an easy transition buckets. If he was more of a natural wing with a tighter handle putting it on the deck and a more willing passer he would be a nightmare mismatch with plus size.. He is a Sactown product and says he is trying to model himself after Rudy Gay.

This guy is a hell of a leaper for his size. It literally looks like he's jumping off a pogo-stick everytime he goes up in the air. Raw as hell, but the potential is through the roof.

He also looks like he is 16. I wouldn't be surprised is he grows a few more inches.

He's one of those what and see type prospect..For one I'm not sold or trust any super athletic prospect with no standout skill set no matter how young they are...But from watching his predraft interviews he seems like a solid smart well spoken dude, so thats encouraging not that it automatically translates on the court..But you could see why he went so high, he probably blew teams away with in his private workouts/one on one's...

Haven't seen it yet, but he supposed to be able to shoot. I have seen him put the ball on the floor and create for himself.

Wut? I said Chriss and Murray weren't worthy of top 10 consideration. Then you listed a bunch of other guys not worthy top 10 consideration. Sounds like you are making my case for me.

BTW, when I posted that Murray was in the top 10 in several mocks. Obviously he didn't go that high. Jury is still out on Chriss.
