I dont want to see crowder get shipped out in any scenario involving Butler or Love. I part with the 3rd pick before hand. Crowder's 25 going into his prime soon and we have him for 4 years and he gives fits to the other opposing top small forwards in the game. Plus he's 15ppg. Crazy time of year. We'll soon see. I hope Chicago backs off their demands. It ultimately comes down to a game of chicken. Are the Bulls really quietly imploding from within? Or are they good enough to go at it again with their same situation as last year and run it back? Very few know the answer to that.

NBA has informed teams that the salary cap for upcoming season would be $94M. Cs would have just enough room to form the Bron-Durant-ET Big 3.

Good number I think. Just a bit of extra wiggle room.

As @ShamsCharania noted cap now projected to be $94m for 16-17. Max salaries now project to be- Tier 1: $22m, Tier 2: 26.4; Tier 3: $30.8. @bobbymarks

So 2 max contracts would be $52.8M, allowing $41.2M in other obligations. Celtics currently have just under $34M on the books for next year, so any additional guys retained, draft picks and cap holds could be up to $7.2M.

“You know what? Boston recruits itself,” the Hall of Famer said. “I mean, it’s a city and a place that you want to play in and want to be there. Even though we had battles with the Celtics, I get mad love whenever I come to Boston, and whenever I’m around the city and in the restaurants and whatever, it’s . . . you know, they root like hell against you, but they respect a competitor and talent and the game that you brought.

“So other than when I had on the Pistons uniform, I think that was the only time I got treated bad or booed. But as soon as I put on a suit and tie and walked on the street, they treated me extremely well. They still do to this day.”

I love Crowder. But I'm shipping him out for Butler. Maybe Love as well. The Celtics need scoring and Butler is a rabid defensive presence as well. One binky on this board will be traded this offseason and it doesn't matter who comes back in return people will absolutely hate it. People in 2007 were beyond pissed that G-Money was dealt in a KG trade. Revisionist history shows that him and Big Al and picks for KG was by far the right move for the organization. I have a lot more faith in DA when it comes to FA and Trades than the draft.

Im hoping if there is in fact a three way deal to be had with Philly and Chicago we walk away with Butler and Noel. Then sign Horford. Maybe get Terrence Jones for off the bench.
Thomas/Butler/Crowder/Horford/Noel

I think that would easily be the second best team in the east

Marcus Smart should hire a shooting coach.

Uh, is Dwight Howard out of his freaking mind opting out of a $23 million dollar year? Who is going to pay him anywhere near that much? Does he not realize how far his stock has fallen?

At the very very least, someone will give him a 1 year prove it deal at about that price.

...who?? The cap is going up to around $94 million. Who's going to give a quarter of their available money to Dwight Howard?

He already had a great prove it deal, in Houston.

Off the top of my head Atlanta and our boy Danny might if other plans don't workout. Anyone who needs a center, and has the room. Caps going up again next year.

Yea, I'm not sure he's worth it...but he'll get it.

I am going to guess he was just miserable in Houston. Seemed like a toxic environment.

I'd take him on a one-year deal if we can't make anything else happen.

He opted out because he wants a long term deal I would assume. I doubt you'll be able to get him on a 1 year deal when it's his last chance to get paid big long term.

I'd be OK with giving Howard a 3yr 55mil deal. I think Houston was just a tough place for him.

I think Dwight was overrated to begin with. He was never the offensive player he got credit for being. Injuries may have left a mark as well.

But for the most part he has always been well conditioned, he is still averaging 13 rebounds per 36, and he is probably as mature as ever. Given the rumors about maxing a role player like Harrison Barnes and trading assets for a guy like Kevin Love who might as well be 36 years old, I would actually be thrilled with the opportunity to max Dwight.

Uhhhh If you can get Dwight Howard on a 3yr 55mil deal you do it in a heartbeat. He gives you a lot of what we need in rebounding/shot blocking/shot altering and an all round presence in the key. ALSO I think people need to realise with the Hack a Dwight rule coming in (whatever it may be) he will be even more valuable.

Howard isn't coming here nor should we bring him in.
