I don't think the 12th pick averaging over 11/3/3 over their career and 16/5/4 at their peak is really out of the question, although he is a pretty good defender. If Wade Baldwin was there at 12, then I think I'd probably rather have him than George Hill at 30 years old. But Utah is probably trying to make a playoff push this year too, so it makes a bit more sense for them.

Baldwin has intriguing length/athleticism combo with spot up shooting abilities but I don't think he can be a primary ballhandler/initiator. Also his finishing ability is really lacking. Hill is a veteran mentor for Exum, who's offense/health is a big question mark but he was ridicilous on the other end

What is Utah doing? Hill will be a FA? 12th pick for 1 year of service?

Yeah I was speaking more of what I would do. I don't really think the idea of him being a primary ballhandler is out of the question in the NBA either, and while his finishing wasn't the best, he was good at getting to the line. I get the idea of Hill being a mentor for Exum for sure though, and adding Hill is better for pushing them toward the playoffs this year than anyone they'd get in the draft.

Why didn't the Jazz just take Jeff Teague for their 12th pick?
We can look at this in two ways...
Jeff Teague, an all-star is only valued at the 12th pick, which is pretty crappy value... or George Hill is valued at the 12th pick, which is tremendous value, and means we should be able to at least trade Knight for the 8th pick, or Bledsoe should be worth a lot more.

I really like that for Indiana. George Hill became a shell of his former self last season.

Small ball

Bledsoe
Buddy
Booker
Barnes
Chandler

All we do in this scenario is draft Buddy and sign Barnes.

Isn't Barnes a restricted FA. I have only heard GS is willing to match all offers. I think the only way we could get Barnes is a sign and trade. I don't know the Suns would be willing to pay Barnes Max and give up players to get him.

GS will let him go if he wants out. Gambo has harped on Barnes continually for a while now. He said we are interested.

Well they are going after Durant. Little chance they get him, but if they do, Barnes is gone.

Obviously they are going to make a run. Hayward isn't going anywhere.

Got to imagine Butler is not going anywhere now with the Bulls trading Rose to the Knicks.

Exactly. We should pick Chriss/Bender and go for a top pick in the next draft.

Well the hill trade should end any Hayward trade talk. I can't see them dealing a first for a vet pg then turning around and trading Hayward for picks. Looks like Utah wants to try and make the playoffs.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

Yes, they said they'd agree to let him go and try to work out a sign and trade. So they'd probably want like Warren or someone back. Would you do that?

No surprise. We weren't going to get Butler/Hayward.
