Reminded me of how good Davis is at rotating and just being in the right place at the right time. His shot didn't look great, but the passes he was making were great, the block he had on Stone might have saved the game. Unfortunately for Stone, that was the only time he seemed to do anything noteworthy in the second half. Valentine of course, was the best player on the court. And it wasn't even a great game by his standards.

I would 100% take Valentine outside of the lottery. I could also see the Kings reach for him at #8.

Davis wouldn't be the worst pick at #9. I just don't think he could contribute much next season. But after a year in the 905, he might be making Masai look pretty smart.

As for Stone, I want no part of him at #27. He looked slow and lazy. At one point Costello and Davis made him look like a confused fool on a pass for a wide open dunk. He just doesn't seem to have much BBIQ at all. Or a motor. He might have been the biggest guy on the floor in this game, but he looked more like a pylon than a player.

Which really makes me wonder what Masai might see in him. Smokescreen? Are we making a trade that nets us some mid-second round picks? We seem to be looking at a bunch of players that won't go in the first round. Er... maybe that is harsh towards Stone. I'm currently projecting him at #30. But after watching this game again, I think I might drop him a bit more.

Thank you for giving your analysis after watching a game and not just highlights (which 90% of this board does)

Right now looks like:

at 9) Whoever slips from the "Consensus 8" or one of Skal/Sabonis/Ellenson/Poeltl/Davis
at 27) Zubac or Hernangomez or Thon Maker

Really really hard to predict the Raptors move so this will be an interesting draft. Really interested to see who they value the most out of the options on the board at 9 (unless a top 8 guy slips).

Not to be an ass to deeps6x after their quality contribution, but you'd probably need 5-8 full games before forming any sort of meaningful opinion on a prospect. One or two games could just be an enigma and not representative of what a player really brings to the table. I tend to have quite a bit of free time on my hands but I'm not going to spend it fan-scouting full games of college basketball.

Doing research tonight for Mock Draft 10. Based on all the info I can find, the Kings only got 1 prospect ranked in our Top 30 in for a workout -- Wade Baldwin. They didn't even get medicals on most of the top 10 prospects. They've been completely shunned by agents.

Woj is doing a pre-draft video chat on Facebook...and what he is hearing from his contacts in Toronto is that the Raptors could go several ways. More than likely will be keeping pick and looking at Sabonis, Skal and Davis.

I think it if we keep the pick it is one of these four. Poetl, numbers just too good. Sabonis, intensity and BBIQ unmatched. Dejounte. Totally left field but shows, elite getting to the basket abilities however frantic and raw he can be at times. Dark horse - Wade Baldwin cheap athletic 3 and D to displace TRoss.

I'm going on record and saying the prospects I rate highest that are supposed to be available at 9 are Deyonta Davis and Furkan Korkmaz. We don't know half of the scouting that our front office does. If they found time to converse with Deyonta Davis and liked the personality that came through (that one video is far from enough to judge a person's resilience or character), I bet he is our pick.

I was high on Davis earlier in the process. His interviews definitely affected my opinion of him. If he were drafted, it would mean, like you said, that they were comfortable he does have the drive and work ethic to succeed.

Korkmaz is a darkhorse. Masai could really love him and just be trying to keep him hidden. Teams do try poach guys... looking at you suns.

This tells me the media have no idea what we're doing. Masai runs a tight ship and this is no different. Even Woj can't get solid info.

I see them drafting Dejounte Murray @ # 14. I think he's overrated personally, but I wouldn't be surprised if they picked him.

Return to Toronto Raptors
