Well, I did paraphrase, but here's the quote

"Jackson noted that the Knicks will try to develop their guards from within. He mentioned Tony Wroten, whom they expect to sign in the coming days, as one player who could add depth at the position.

"Our process is going on [and] it's a little underground, a little beneath the surface, but this is one of our desires, that we have to have a penetrator and we have to have somebody that can handle those roles," he said."

This could mean anything, and indicates looking for a PG less than I thought. It could mean looking for a PG. It could mean developing Grant. Or Wroten. Or a PG at Westchester. It definitely seems to mean that they are looking at a player who penetrates well as part of his skill set (sorry JR, not that way), whether it be a PG, SG or SF.

Which is a need as obvious as the fact that water is wet to anyone who watched even a handful of Knick games, and to most here, who watch more than that, it's a screamingly obvious need.

Only interesting part, in a tea leaf sort of way, is the "little underground, beneath the surface". My read is they are looking at someone considered a combo guard or wing, but who Gaines/Jackson covet as a slashing creator, but it's not a guy listed specifically as a PG.

Sounds like guys mentioned. McCaw, Whitehead, Gbinije - and the other tallish creators mentioned in the workout thread.

Great, thanks! Good read...I did miss that.

I've said this many times before, but Phil does leave clues out there.

BOTH KP & Hornacek were linked to NY, they just got buried by our sports writers posting tne same dumb, wrong articles over and over.

Yeah, I mean, Phil has the organization pretty leak free, but he's actually pretty transparent on his intentions.

I take this to mean the Knicks will add a PG and or slashing player - they'll do it in the body of one player preferably, but will get two players - one floor general, one slasher, if need be.

I mean, I was messing around in the "bold predictions" thread, but absolutely the Knicks add a PG not on the roster and one player who slashes, and this will be done via trade, FA, the draft or some combination.

As usual, the information is right in front of us - it's also apparent to anyone who knows even a little about basketball, but Phil is plainly stating it. Basically, "a little underground" really means "we've been quiet about it, and I'm not telling, so don't ask, but we are handling it and it's happening". It's actually not even cryptic. I think I did that to make it more dramatic for myself. It's more "don't ask, we got this"

Like Michael Gbijine as well. Not sure about Whitehead though. Wouldnt be mad if we picked him though. Wouldnt be mad if we picked anybody to tell you the truth. Just get me a SG that has the potential to be a nice backup.

I want nothing to do with Gbinjine. Melo is the only 'Cuse guy in recent history to find success at the NBA level. MG is 24 and doesn't do anything at a high level.

It's actually shocking how bad he is.

LeVert's injury history scares the hell out of me. Such a shame. Awesome well rounded offensive player.

Cash for 2nd round pick is still a thing right?
2017 Bulls 2nd for 2016 late 2nd round?

Seriously i dont know what to expect from this draft. If its Whitehead than we might sign him as undrafted player.

After spending some time scouting Kay Felder I'm all in on this kid. His all around ability on the offensive end is incredible. He is an Isaiah Thomas (Boston) clone. 5'9 ultra athletic lefty, can shoot the ball, get to the basket, finish with a variety of moves and find the open man. Where do I sign up for the Bandwagon? I really wanted Thomas out of Washington and this is a second chance.

I would still be happy with Whitehead, Levert, Bembry or Barber.

Realistic dream night would be get the 26th pick from Philadelphia and take Thon Maker then buy a mid 2nd rounder from Boston for Felder.

Felder's defense is not good. Players throw the ball right over him like he's not even there.

Keep an eye on Wayne Selden. Big, strong, huge wingspan. Ferocious inside game and excellent form on his J. Could be a plus defender too. Knicks worked him out.

I think a lot of Felder's poor D had to do with his high usage on the offensive end and minutes played. He took defense off to save his energy. He actually is a solid defender for his size and will average 2 steals a game.

I wouldn't mind Selden either. He is a tank physically and can become a knock down shooter.

I really love Selden's shooting form. It looks very true and consistent. Then throw in that he is a physical beast too!

Why does everyone want KOQ traded? I thought he played well on both ends when he was getting consistent minutes. For 3.9 mil he is on a good salary for a 15-20 min big. The Knicks need to keep some of these players from last season.

Hoping Dunn goes to the Wolves. That would be a special core.. And the last thing I want to do is have to root for him on the C's

I would hold off on trading KOQ unless we had a really nice trade lined up. He has a lot more to offer than Knicks fans saw last season. He was mind-f*cked by Fisher's dumbazz rotations and minutes.
