Pretty good value and fits the vision, don't like Thad nearly as much as I like Teague though.

I'm pretty meh on this deal right now. But getting a win now piece for a late first rounder is nice. We are making a push for the ECFs for sure.

A little odd considering just two years ago, Larry was quoted as saying, "you have to be in the first round."

I'm not sure Thad is quite in the tier to duck out of the first round, even if it's in the 20s. I guess this ends the chase for Horford/Durant, however slim that might've been. Unless Larry has something up his sleeve.

Overall, I like Thad though. He's just been overlooked because of the sucky teams he's been on tecently

Yeah, we're back in the mid-tier free agent category again. Longshot that we sign Solomon Hill at this point, I'd love to grab Eric Gordon though. I think he'd pair great with Teague, unlike Monta. Courtney Lee too.

We've got 23 million to spend if we renounce Ian, 15 million if we don't. We have some money to work with to round out the roster.

I'd be interested to see what the market is for Monta. Not sure Larry's pride would let him give up on his long-coveted free agent coup after just a year though.

I don't really like Thad as a starter, but you still have Monta or Stuckey to build a package around before going FA hunting.

Teague
Lance Stephenson (FA)
PG13
Turner
Tyson Chandler (trade Stuckey and Allen)

would be a nice starting lineup mix.

Get a couple 1st round picks out of that too, I'm sure you mean. Nice, nice. I mean, we're not taking on that contract on that senior citizen, but I get what you mean.

But no, Turner is the 5. If we wanted him to play the 4, we'd re-sign Mahinmi.

I understand what u mean about Chandler's age but I simply thinking about a reasonable big that can be had in a trade since Monta or Stuckey needs to go. Also, I simply don't like Turner as a starting 5. He is more of a pick and pop, stretch 4 whom doesn't rebound well enough to be a starting C. Who does the dirty work with a starting five of Teague, Ellis, PG13, Young, and Turner?

This is a good move. Thaddeus is serviceable as a starter or a bench guy, either way I think he will fit.

Yeah, I don't know, either. But, the fact remains, Bird sees Turner's future as the 5, and apparently, isn't too keen on re-signing Mahinmi because of that. I can't imagine that he would take a lesser player (at this stage in their careers, Mahinmi is better), on a more expensive contract, and possibly a longer contract, in order to do what he doesn't want to do (have Turner play the 4).

Love the deal, great fit for a more uptempo style of play. PG-Thad-Turner could potentially be the best front court in the East.

I also don't see us bringing Lance back, feel like that bridge has been burned. Plus, we already have abit of a glut when it comes to combo guards.

Bench unit of:

PG
Monta
CJ Miles
Thad Young
C

Could be very nice.

I am a Hawks fan also until Horford is gone. That leads me to say I am sick at the stomach when I see you type that the front office sees Turner as a 5. I have went through this from day one to now with Atlanta's front office being hell bent on playing Horford at the 5. I will tell you from experience you hardly ever get to where you want to go with a bunch of players stuck in between positions.
