I feel like the Knicks would make an offer for Whiteside. All the rumours of Dwight going there now that DRose was traded there, I don't know why anyone going for Dwight wouldn't first go for Hassan. Cheaper max, not on the downswing, no free throw handicap of lingering back issues. I dont think it woild be the wise move for whiteside, but at the same time, he may love the spotlight and glamour of NY, and get promised more.

Exactly Whiteside owes the Heat nothing, this is his first pay day you cant blame him for wanting to cash in especially if it'll still be with a team that competes for playoff spot ala portland. If Heat really want him then pay the man the max and lets be done with 'such and such team is interested sigining Whiteside.

This always seemed obvious to me. He's basically what they need to take the next step with that back court. Why would anybody go to the Lakers or Dallas? Those teams are done.

Everybody take a deep breath. Hassan's the 2nd best UFA in this class and he has a relatively cheap max. Of course everyone will be after him.

This is Hassan's first real free agency where he can get courted, dined and wined. He loves to feel wanted. Why should we be surprised if he takes other visits? He should go out and check his options. When he is done, Riley can close the deal before July 7.

The bottom line is that as much as we would love for Hassan to not "flirt" with other teams, he has earned the right to this experience. If he decides to leave Miami for another opportunity, it would be because he wanted to leave. Money will not be the deciding factor. If he goes, we can move on and use that money elsewhere. If he stays, great! we have our center of the future locked up and hopefully he lives up to that large contract he is about to get.
