Sabonis isn't a bad pick he's shown flashes of being a pick and pop guy and what I love is he took it to Okafor last year in the tourney and gave Poetle buckets this year

Ibaka is being dangled around by the Thunder.

Ibaka is on his final year of his contract ($12,350,000).

I think the Thunder are realizing a shot blocking PF putting up 12 and 6 isn't the most valuable thing these days in an era of mostly outside play. It would be interesting to see the offers. If the Kings hadn't have drafted Willie I'd be for the Kings getting him. Maybe even still, but that value would have to make sense.

Actually, Ibaka has a decent outside 3PT shot. He is a 14 & 9 and 3 blocks player -- per 36. He is still pretty damn valuable in today's game, imo.

Re-thinking about it, if Teague (who is on his final year of his contract) brought back the #12 to Atlanta, what does Ibaka nets? To me, Ibaka has a bit more value than Teague, imo. Just food for thought.

But then again, there are rumors floating around that Ibaka is in his 30's. That may explain his decline a bit.

Yeah, but remember this guy was a guarantee max type a few years ago. That would be a huge mistake in todays game.

I'm sure the Thunder will ask the world, or at least a top 10 pick. It depends if they are looking for help now or a pick really.

Usually when you draft in the lotto, your only concern is to set players up like that with minutes and shots. That didn't happen here. That's the problem when you take a production player (winning aside, very few rookies are the catalyst for winning) and not give them the opportunity to produce. Will a team win giving players like that a big piece of the pie minutes wise or shots wise? Probably not, heck, the TWolves aren't winning with KAT and Wiggens either. Not saying that they (Nik and TRob) would have produced in the same fashion of course.

Now, Sabonis is a solid defender, and does some of the little things like screening well, etc. so he can impact the team positively in whatever minutes he got. But at 8? No way, not for the Kings realistic needs or opportunity available. Of course, if the Kings could trade down to get him while picking something else up, that wouldn't be too bad.

I understand where you are coming from but my concern isnt getting a rookie shots and minutes. It's developing that player to be able to grow and produce in the future. If Sabonis played 20 minutes a game and got six shots a game but showed flashes of developing and we could see improvement, I'd be content. The issue isnt year one and getting ROY type production. It's developing a piece that is going to be solid and grow who can be part of our foundation in my mind.

What I dont want to see is a Evans type situation where guy has carte blance to do what he wants but is stunted in growth because he hasnt had to learn how to play the game the right way.

Developing as what though? He's not an upside guy. He's really not. He's a skilled big that plays below the rim and has limited length. There is actually a big question with him and that's how he finishes around length at the pro level. At 8 he's a heck no for me, but I wouldn't mind him on the Kings in general if the value made sense. No more unnecessary pieces because they are BPA and just hoping it will work out. How many times have we seen this movie before? We know the end of it already.

Think about what you're saying, you don't want the rookie of the year? If anything the problem there was waiting too long to trade him if he wasn't the right fit. Select high. Play to strengths. Sell high.

At 8 we are drafting a role player. That's the reality of the situation. Who do you expect to be at 8 that has all star potential? Hield/Dunn/Murray/Chriss (who I'm not even high on even though he's a hometown kid) will all be gone. We are getting a role player at our spot and Sabonis will be a damn good role player to have with a trio of DMC/WCS/Sabonis in the front court. Especially if we're in win now mode, this is what we should be looking at. Look at the last 10 rookie of the years. Derrick Rose is the only one who was on a playoff team his rookie year. Every other one was a lottery team the year after.

I never said there was anyone at 8 with All star potential nor am I saying that Sabonis won't be a good player, but the question is the how of it. What I'm saying is maybe looking at direct need and available opportunity relative to value? Losing value is losing value no matter how you slice it. If there was a guaranteed spot for Sabonis to produce, since he's a production player, not too unlike a Thomas Robinson coming out of the draft, then fine but is there?

Plenty of good role players have been taken that high, and there are plenty of teams that are blasted for having been the one to do it.

It would still all depend on what they did around him as well. Moving Koufos would be a necessity at that point obviously.

Sabonis would be a pretty bad pick at 8 considering who's on this roster. I'd rather go wade Baldwin in a trade back.

Honestly I feel like it's hield or bust. Trade it otherwise. Nobody else makes us better immediately other than hield. At least with Baldwin we fill a need at backup pg.

It is highly unlikely we draft Sabonis.

Hield , Dunn maybe outside chance at chriss or murray at the 8 spot that is to say we stay at 8 .

I don't have anything concrete to say as far as a deal but I know that if we can't get whom or what we want we will trade down & or out .

76ers , Celtics , Hawks & Suns are talking alot with us as well as the Bucks .
Talks with Indy have cooled a lot . Talks with the Bulls have cooled a bit as well .

Lakers & Celtics are still going after Cousins but that is highly unlikely

76ers, Celtics, and Suns could all put together packages I'd want for #8. I hope the Hawks discussions are for a lower pick if we trade down. We've got a coveted trade chip, choose wisely Vlade!

Two conflicting updates I have for everyone
1st Kings are trying to move up to the #6 spot tlthough they are really trying to get all the way to the # 4 spot as they fear of both Dunn & Hield being gone
2nd 76ers are offering all teams from the # 3-8 spot including us Noel or Okafor for their pick . It doesn't make a ton of sense for the Kings whom are highly likely to keep Cousins however if the Kings can't get whom they want & don't get a deal to move up or a great offer to move down IMO they have to take the deal as both are very likely to be a better player than that of what would be available .

All this said it is less likely the Kings would be the team getting either of the two but I know it is and has been talked about today so though unlikely it is possible .

I do recall last season the Pelicans wanting Gay via trade pretty badly however I have not had any confirmation of that they still carry that same interest now .

Should get interesting soon.

Great deal by the Kings -- assuming there isn't any more to add in the deal.

Nice. Marco talked some stuff, he had to go, haha.

Kings trying to package to move up for Hield I'd bet. If not, hopefully Sabonis or Baldwin/Valentine last. I'd be OK with Sabonis and Baldwin/Valentine even if it's 8 that they take Sabonis at.

Love it! He gave us nothing and we need to get some young talent in the building to pair with WCS.

Yeah, I think Hield and Dunn are the target for moving up.

If Sabonis, I say move down to 12 and 21 and go after Sabonis, Valentine and Baldwin. Would be great night if that happened!
