We've got 23 million to spend if we renounce Ian, 15 million if we don't. We have some money to work with to round out the roster.

Ring ding ding get the Indianapolis crew back together. Gordon on a cheap deal would be great - a shooter/scorer off the bench. Can they get him on a one-year type deal like they did with Stuckey two years ago?

Im not sure about this one. But he has had solid numbers. My opinion on him may be wrong but Im just not sold that he's the type of guy that can deliver those numbers on a winning team. I like him as a 5th or 6th option. But his contract suggests 3rd option. Hopefully they look to add an additional impact player via free agency.

This is a good move if Miles becomes the starter, or another SG that you sign, you play Monta as the 6th man and dump Stuckey, also Myles becomes a 3pt threat in time.

Teague-Young
Miles-Ellis
George-Robinson
Young-Christmas
Turner-Allen

+whoever you can sign

Interesting. I'm sad that we gave away the #20 pick but I like Thad Young enough to be fine with that trade. I just hope we buy a 2nd round pick now :D

I understand what u mean about Chandler's age but I simply thinking about a reasonable big that can be had in a trade since Monta or Stuckey needs to go. Also, I simply don't like Turner as a starting 5. He is more of a pick and pop, stretch 4 whom doesn't rebound well enough to be a starting C. Who does the dirty work with a starting five of Teague, Ellis, PG13, Young, and Turner?

Yeah, I don't know, either. But, the fact remains, Bird sees Turner's future as the 5, and apparently, isn't too keen on re-signing Mahinmi because of that. I can't imagine that he would take a lesser player (at this stage in their careers, Mahinmi is better), on a more expensive contract, and possibly a longer contract, in order to do what he doesn't want to do (have Turner play the 4).

I am a Hawks fan also until Horford is gone. That leads me to say I am sick at the stomach when I see you type that the front office sees Turner as a 5. I have went through this from day one to now with Atlanta's front office being hell bent on playing Horford at the 5. I will tell you from experience you hardly ever get to where you want to go with a bunch of players stuck in between positions.

Golden State Warriors(Draymond,Iggy,Barnes) and Cleveland Cavaliers(Lebron) being exceptions?

I could not disagree with you more, having guys being able to switch on pick and rolls and not cause a huge mismatch is a luxury for coaches and is really the way the NBA is going. I love the versatility of a PG Young and Turner front court and is one of the biggest things I will miss about George Hill.

I think what he really meant is that sometimes versatility can hurt the career of a player.

LeBron James is not a good example because he is the most versatile player in the history of the game and Green is clearly better at the four spot. Iggy can switch on pf but is better at the three and that is where he played for most of his career, same with Barnes.

In horford case, he was asked to play center for the Hawks because they had Josh Smith at the four and then millsap while he is clearly better at the four spot.
Sometimes teams chose to play those guys at a position of need and not at the position they are Best suited for.

On both sides of the floor he had to play against taller and stronger players for all those years.

Turner is taller than he is and has more tools offensively but I am kind of feeling the same way about him.
Hope i am wrong.

I think Thad Young is clearly an upgrade for the Pacers. He is far better than any player the Pacers are likely going to draft at # 20 in what looks to be a poor draft.

I'm not sure he is the ideal player at PF though. Yes he is a better fit for a more up tempo style but he really isn't a good shooter from distance.

Plus, I'm not high on Monta Ellis to begin with and I like him less and less for the Pacers after the Teague and now Young trades. You can push the tempo all you want but half court offense is still much more important. Half court offense becomes much more difficult when two of your starters (Ellis and now Young) are not very good shooters.

I mean, there's a big difference between the two situations. Horford was a true 4, when true 4's were bruisers and played inside. He played the 5 because Atlanta had no one else. Now, Turner is a true 5, because 4's are more like wings, now. Horford should have been playing the 4 before, and transitioned to the 5 now as his game more closely matches that. Turner's the opposite, almost. He should play the 5 now, as he shouldn't really be asked to guard wings that masquerade as big men.
