Lee will be 31 this october and he is not going to start here once MKG back from his injury. I think the FO priorities are Nic, Marv, Al (yes Al), and maybe Lin.

As for the Nets, if they offer Lin a starting PG role, I wonder what Lin will think. After his experience with the Lakers, I thought Lin said he doesn't enjoy playing on losing teams. Are the Nets expected to miss the playoffs next season? If the Nets are projected to be one of the two worst teams in the east, I'm guessing Lin may think twice before joining the Nets (this is probably Charlotte's best selling point to Lin - that they can make the playoffs again).
Lin doesn't like playing for TANKING teams, Sean Marks and Kevin Atkinson weren't hired to tank.
Concensus estimate for wins for Charlotte last season was 26.75 wins by CBSSports - that was supposed to be a losing team. Playoffs are not a selling point and Lin won't think twice about a Nets starting role as that is his job to take the Nets to the playoffs and he's confident he can do it.

Re: Not In The Face - The Jeremy Lin Thread 3 + 1
to be fair, anyone who knew anything about the Hornets it should have been fairly obvious the Hornets weren't a 26 win team heading into last year. Us Hornets fans predicted we'd win about 40-45 games last summer. Hornets won 33 games the year before with a team destroyed by injuries and ruined by Lance. If Hornets were healthy that season they would have easily made the playoffs.

I said Lamb was the biggest obstacle to resigning Lin. If they get rid of Lamb, resigning Lin becomes much more likely. No idea though what Lin would do if offered a starting job by another team.

To say "Lin won't think twice about a Nets starting role" and the this stuff about his job to take the Nets to the playoff is 1) presumptuous on your part to say you know what Lin thinks and 2) saying Lin thinks he has a mission for the Nets.
I'm not aware of Lin ever saying anything like I'm going to get a team into the playoffs, so what's this based on exactly?

Based on exactly?
How about based on Lin's words in interview after interview throughout the season saying he wants to START and his multiple testimonials on his current trip to Asia stating that STARTING is critically important to him. And spare me with the, every player says that line.
If Cho is stupid enough to offer Lin $12 million as a 22 minute backup to Kemba, Lin will laugh at him and say sorry gonna take $9 million to start for Nets or whoever else offers a starting PG role.
And sorry to shatter the "real selling point" that Hornets think they have which is Lin is HAPPY on the team. Truth is by Lin's own words, he decided to raise God above his earthly fears and desires to attain happiness - so you see it was not Clifford or Cho or Teammates or Lockerroom that made Lin happy this season. Not surprisingly God and happiness would tag along with Lin when and if he moves to his new team.

TAG Heuer event in Shanghai. Jeremy was assaulted and beat up by little children
JLin has a DOTA match scheduled for Beijing tomorrow. Is it some kind of celebrity DOTA contest? I notice there's a cute girl on both teams.

Kind of funny that we are jumping to the news being all about Lin and not about freeing space for a summer FA acquisition. I'm sure it's not only about Lin.

Make no mistake, Brooklyn will be the worst team in the league by a wide margin next year, with or without Lin. Boston is so lucky.

Video from the TAG Heuer event in ShangHai. I'm pretty sure those are flagrant fouls. Or maybe you're just allowed to operate by different basketball defensive rules if you're under 5yrs old.

I think when asked about free agency, he said that he would have to wait for the draft to get a clearer picture.
I wonder if anything cleared up for him now that the Hornets effectively drafted a 30yr old Marco Belinelli with the 22nd pick.

The Marco trade signals Lee is gone, Lin is still possible, however it depends on if they can move Lamb and Hawes

Anyone who has experienced Linsanity is not gonna believe that!
Let's see whom they sign at the PF spot to replace Thad.

I think Lin's defensive presence has become more important now with the signing of Belinelli

Lin did say post draft would clarify options for him and his agents. Belinelli doesn't signal positivity on Lin remaining a Hornet, but Belli has some experience at the 1.
Question for CLT is whether Belli's minutes at Point is more like what Lin provides or what BRob/Neal provided?
On Lin fansites they show a graphic where the number of double digit deficits that the Hornets 2nd unit dug the starters out of went from near zero games under Roberts/Neal to 11 games under Lin benchforce.
Additionally the number of double digit leads given up (lost) by Hornets 2nd unit all but dried up between, frequently under the Roberts/Neal regime and the Lin regime.
If Marco doesn't work out, BRob and Neal are both available, I'm sure with Robert's Portland playoff experience he can't be as bad as before.

I experienced Linsanity. I saw Lin play out of his mind, the Knicks team win, for something like 7 out of 8 games, and then I saw a losing streak of 6 or 7 games and the head coach resign. Linsanity was quick wave of extreme feel-good,. And I do think Lin makes his teammates better, but especially in the right system with the right team mates. But is that system then best for him now? Because...
Since then, Lin has changed his approach. In Linsanity, he had the ball and made all of the plays. Since then, Lin has learned to play with other guys who can facilitate, and he's focused way more on defense and picking his spots offensively. So I don't expect to see Lin play like Linsanity's version again due to his changed approach even if he is a starting PG next season.
I think Brooklyn as it is now, is not worth even discussing. There's nothing there. Will the management there figure out some magic mix that gets the right players together and Lin be a part of that? I can't say. I wouldn't chance it if I were Lin.
But, enough on the Nets. Lin is a Hornet as of now, hasn't picked another team yet, and maybe this turns into a Lin appreciation thread down the road. We'll see.

I believe Lin will be back in the states by next week. If I'm not mistaken, FAs won't be signing with teams until the July 1st and afterwards anyway.

Thanks for the nice reply! I'm not saying it's gonna be Linsanity again. It's just that if they sign Lin, who has improved a lot and has become a lot more versatile since Linsanity, I won't believe that the Nets are gonna be "the worst team in the league by a wide margin next year". A lot depends on whom they are able to sign with that huge cap space of course. Another reason I don't think they'll be that bad cuz they'll probably field more vets since they don't have picks while other teams have more rookies and might be tanking.
