lol what has Delon shown or done in the league besides smile at the end of the bench?

In all fairness he is playing behind our best player and hometown kid.....the few mins Delon played I was impressed

I can definitely see the Tristan Thompson comparisons now. Someone in the GB even threw out Draymond Green, which I don't see at all, but he may be referring exclusively to his defense.

I'm really liking this pick and glad we got him over Davis and Skal. I liked Skal earlier in the year but outside of his jumpshot there's nothing distinguishing him from the other big men in this draft. And Davis' attitude in the green room validated his attitude problems.

It doesnt really say anything abut the kids talent, but more about a possible leaning by management to certain measureables.

Every year we get a clearer picture of what managment values in a prospect, helping us pinpoint other possibilities going forward. Just makes it a little bit more fun, and a little bit less random.

Delon Wright barely played last year but still managed to show some promise. Not sure if you were watching.

Granted his best numbers came against Brooklyn, but he's shown the ability to contribute in multiple categories against good teams as well. Low turnovers too.

I still don't get it, especially after seeing the wiretap again saying we're interested in skal at 9. If we were interested at 9, why wouldn't we take him at 27? Smokescreen???

It was pure Chad Ford apparently. I suspect this its simply a follow up rumor to the earlier rumor that Raps were talking to Calipari doing due dillgence on a UK player. Keeping in mind that even if that rumor was true it could have also been , Murray, Ullis or Poythress ( who we had just worked out). Or it could have been about Skal and the info that they got didn't allay concerns etc.

Yeah, I can see why Masai was all over this as a pick. African prospect (which is a plus when Masai is involved, just saying), productive, versatile, long, athletic, non-stop hustle, hard-worker, positive personality. I'd say he's the Biyombo replacement.

There's lots of raw skill there that will be properly harnessed with lots of time with the 905. I'd bet he develops a workable jumper in a couple years

He had a disappointing freshman season - happens to a lot of guys. The undeniable fact was that he was ranked #2 on the ESPN top 100 which gives him about a 90% chance of becoming an NBA all-star.

That, along with his size, shooting potential, and defensive potential make him a solid prospect. At 27 he would have been a solid pick. Tough to judge though maybe Siakam is the real deal never really heard of him

Who of great wisdom makes the ESPN top 100 list? Scouts? GMs?

If the person who made the ESPN list was always right, don't you think they'd have a job in an NBA front office or as an NBA GM if their ability to identify talent was that special?

While what you said is undeniable, it means absolutely nothing and is not evidence for anything.

Chad Ford was ROASTED in this draft. The Raptors roasted him twice on Skal.

I know squat about the guy i have seen some videos....why are people saying he isn't athletic? Seems like it to me. Maybe not on biz level but biz is a freak athlete....in regards to Skal and Davis.....they were both lotto picks and the fell....must be for a reason

he reminds me alot of a 7'1 david lee that can play defense. and he looks like he could play pf.

Well, I hope to be wrong.

It is INCREDIBLE that Skal dominated Thon Maker 1 on 1 at the Nike Hoops Summit in front of every NBA scout and yet Thon was taken before Skal.... Unbelievable. Anyways, I am ok with the pick, I just think Davis would have been the better pick long term.

I guess it will be pretty easy to spot our pick next year. Just follow whoever has the highest PER. Masai pick.

Wow, that video encapsulates all my thoughts I've had of Poeltl. I agree with almost everything he said.

Now I wish he didn't make me feel like he was trying to hypnotize me, I got drowsy midway through.

I don't see the Bismack comparison. I think it's a bit racist TBH b/c of their African roots, but anyhow. Siakam has much softer hands and can shoot FT's. Bismack is a more explosive athlete and finishes stronger. Siakam is mobile/fluid, but does not have the athleticism of a Biz/DAJ/Drummond/Whiteside.

Ehh...not really racist when you just look at the kind of energy and stamina in his play. He looks like he can be continuously on the move, which could bode well for his rebounding. But Siakam seems like he can be a better passer and scorer. Bismack will be a better rebounder than Siakam, just based off wingspan alone (like 4 inches difference).

75% the D of Bismack with better scoring and probably a bit less rebounding would be how i'd like the Raps to take his development, since that's the kind of player that could thrive on this team, and seems like the kind of potential that can be developed in him.

It's not racist because Africa is not a race.

Last I heard, African is a race, just like african-american.

You don't honest think that's a literal wiretap on Masai's phone, do you?

Been having a very unproductive morning at the office, was totally ready for Poeltl pick, but knew nothing of Siakam.
Looking up his measurables and his stats, and throwing out some random comments.

Standing reach is a solid 8' 11.5" which is a couple inches more than Skal, Brice Johnson, Chriss

No step vert of 30.5" and a max vert of 36". That means at the rim he is covering up to 11.5 feet going straight up without a step.

His stats ... he played a ton of minutes (35) and averaged more block (2.2) + steals (1.0) than he did fouls (2.8).

Shot looks passable in videos, but his FT has been an challenge - 77% last season, but down to 68% this year.

Also found this video of former Bulls coach Tim Floyd talking him up:

( comparisons are just on raw production obviously)
